Haha, well, I think a better goal for me is to get myself to a city where it has been released. I tried to go to St. Louis this weekend, but it didn't work out. I'm going to figure something out! I've just.. got to!! tongue

Then you are very lucky it came to you, as you are only one city in 500. :)

I saw Finding Neverland last week. It is the most incredible movie I have ever seen Johnny Depp in. I was crying for the last half hour of it. It is so wonderful.

What's truly amazing is that it really doesn't fall into any major genre! It's not a romance, it's not an action story, nor is it Sci Fi, Fantasy.. it's nothing but a good movie!

Johnny and Kate were excellent in it. I am expecting them both to get Oscar nods, if not the Oscar itself.

It mixes humor with drama, and it blends beautifully.

I found it quite hilarious at one spot. Like it was said, you really forget that it's Johnny Depp on screen, until you get to the part where they're playing Pirates. Captain Jack Sparrow makes an appearance through Depp. ;)

I give it 5 out of 5 stars. GO SEE IT!

Yeah, it was probably an understatement when I said the film was a tear jerker. It is more like an arrow made of onion that is shot straight into your eyes. I am a 19 year old male college student and I too was crying (more like blubbering) for the last 30 minutes of this film. Even afterwords, when I was eating dinner at the dining hall (I saw the movie in the late afternoon), I almost broke down and started crying again.

Seriously, make sure you don't have anything to do afterwords because you'll be a mess when you walk out of the theater.

Yeah, but if you go see a movie like that with your girlfriend, she'll be crying worse than you would and as a result nobody'd notice you crying. Or at least they wouldn't care! :p

It'll still be some more time until I get to see it
but last night I read an editorial introduction to Peter Pan in Kensington Gardens and Peter and Wendy, which explained a bit about the whole story, including parts from Barrie's life (of course) - and it made me want to see the movie so much more. I mean, reading alone made me teared up in some parts, so I fully believe that the movie must be "a tear jerker on steroids" (very nice expression :D) :)

I have never discussed a movie that I have never seen, so much :p

I'm glad this is playing in Omaha. I had no idea this movie even existed until I saw this thread. Might even go see it tonight.

Jedi_Lite, go to Twin Creek or AMC. AMC has the best screens and seating, Twin Creek has the best sound.

Just my advice from my experience in Omaha.

Oh my gosh! First, I made plans to go see it with my friend the weekend it premiered, but then, obviously, it didn't come to the theater here in Provo. Luckily, I went home for Thanksgiving, and it was showing in Richmond (in ONE theater! out of like, 10 in the area!). I saw it, the theater was PACKED, and my mom cried through the whole thing. I haven't cried in a movie all my life (as of now), so I didn't cry, but I'm sure that for most people it's a tear-jearker. I loved it, though. I'm going to go see it again on Christmas break. The only reason why I went to see it at first was because Johnny Depp looked very hot in the previews, but it turned out to be such a great movie!

I pity everyone who lives in small towns where the film hasn't come yet. *sends tickets to everyone*

Jediflyer: The only listing I saw at omaha.com had it at the Oakview AMC theater, so that is where we (my brother, mother and I) went.

    ---

Oh my lord. Kate Winslet has officially been in two perfect movies in 2004 (the other being, of course, "Eternal Sunshine..."). This was one of the most beautiful films I've ever seen. Another great film with Depp in the lead. Wonderful cinematography. An amazing score.

It was all I could do to hold back tears at several points in the film, not because I found it sad (which it was sometimes), but because it was so beautiful and beautifully executed.

It didn't bludgeon one over the head with the same tired film cliches. The relationship between Depp and Winslet's characters (as well as between any two characters in the film -- you pick 'em) was achingly real.

I really can't wait to own this on DVD, hopefully with some insightful extra features to boot.

    9.5/10

Esperanza! I can't believe you still have not seen this movie.

You should have been personally invited to the premier by Mr. Depp.

I didn't realize that its release was so limited. :( I'm shocked and dismayed -- with as much star power as Johnny has right now?!?!?!?!?

It's a Miramax film and there are no explosions or breasts, so of course it's going to be limited release. Very sad, but at least Miramax has amazing success submitting their films to the Academy for Oscar noms and awards. Oscar buzz and a couple awards could get this film its much deserved notice.

[face_laugh]!! No kidding! I'm gonna have to give him a talking to! :p

I KNOW!!! Miramax seriously needs to fire whoever thought up that brilliant idea.

For those of you who don't know- Miramax originally scheduled Finding Neverland to be released to selected cities on Nov. 12th and then widely released on Nov. 24th. When the film didn't do as well as they expected in the selected cities, they decided to cancel the wide release on Nov. 24th hoping that "word of mouth" would help the film gain more popularity. On Dec. 3rd, Miramax increased the number of cities showing Finding Neverland to a little over 500. My city, however, is not one of those 500. :(

If the movie's oscar material, then it would explain why Germany gets it so late - those no-explosions-no-boobs-oscar-movies (nice definition) get released either around or even after the oscars here, often. That's mostly why I always don't know half of the movies mentioned at the oscars...

Could this be the perfect Christmas present for us small-town folk?

Basically, what the link says is that Miramax will (finally) widely release Finding Neverland on Dec. 25th. I'm not sure how reliable comingsoon.net is (or for that matter, how reliable Miramax is), so I'm not getting my hopes up yet. But wishful thinking doesn't hurt, I suppose. :p

Oh, I hope so, Esperanza! It's a shame you've had to wait so long. The movie will be out on DVD by the time it gets to your town.

(Oh, btw, check out my vote for best post in the 2004 JC awards thread) ;)

YAY! I'm glad this movie is coming to more theaters, hopefully, so I won't have to go to the theater that's IMPOSSIBLE to get to because of all the traffic so I can see the movie a second time!

That's a long sentence. But not as long as my wait to see Finding Neverland again...:(
