I think this could be a great move. Playing Joan will show people that RRS has a good acting range, and RRS is a good actress. Plus, we now know that Joan and Mr Bumpo will be in the movie. ALl we need now is Dave :D

Oh, and Laura Harring is down to play Saint's wife. Not seen anything she has been in, but she looks good :)

You guys actually think that this looks good from the teaser trailer? ?[face_plain] Man...you must be seeing something I'm not. Now I've never been a huge Punisher fan, but were he a living, breathing person I'm relatively sure he would look nothing like Thomas Jane. That costume looks like he bought a Punisher t-shirt at his local comic book store.

Or that he made it himself. Where else would he get it from? ;)

And remember JMA, he has beefed up a lot since those shots. SEAL training :D

His voice was perfect. Everything I have heard about this is perfect. The actors are all good that I have seen. The style, the story they are basing a lot on...perfect. The articles have all made me heavily interested, while some others (X2) were giving me vibes that I was unsure on. Such as this one:

Thomas Jane, who stars in the upcoming film adaptation of Marvel Comics' Punisher series, told SCI FI Wire that he begins filming at the end of June and that the film's action will include realistic fighting. "All old-school stuff," Jane said in an interview. "What would you really do to take these [bad] guys out? What it usually comes down to is, you poke their eyes out, you slit their throat, break their nose, brutal stuff. That kind of ends the fight kind of quickly. That's why you don?t see it too much. No wires, no Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon stuff. It's all going to be real world."

    That's the stuff :D

X2 is comic book/film perfection, IMO.

And I like what I read in that article, RF, but I'm still wholly unimpressed with everything I've seen of Jane. Granted it isn't much but it's all I've seen so far. Is he bigger than an average guy? Yeah, I guess so. Seal training will help some, but my girlfriend's dad was one of the original Navy SEAL's, and apparently you don't really put all that much bulk on. Punisher, in everything I've seen of him, is supposed to be this massive intimidating bringer of death. I sort of get the initmidating vibe from the trailer, but I definitely don't get the massive vibe. *shrug* Maybe it's just me.

That's my point. It came out good, but the articles were worrying me. With this one, everyone seems to be saying all the right words, like an expect hostage negotiator negotiating for, well, hostages :)

From that trailer he DOES look like he had some way to go to be bulked, I agree.

Yes, remember that trailer was just filmed before he started doing any training or anything.

And the T-shirt probably was bought at a comic store, since it would be the easiest way to get one on short notice to use in 2 seconds of film :D

Jeez, the Punisher movie shirt wasn't from a comic book store, read the comics and look at a Previews catalog, the movie skull is different than the comic skull.

Second, the Punisher is 6' 200 lbs. and able to lift his own body weight, Jane is 5'11", I don't know his weight or what he can lift, but he can attain that stat.
The point is, that the Punisher according to official Marvel stats isn't this hugh guy you think he is.

BTW, Hugh Jackman isn't 5'3" and he played Wolverine!!!!

    Unless Jane gets fired, he's the Punisher. Or rather you'd want Dolph Lundgren to return to the role? 8-}

July 07, 2003 - Marvel Studios and Artisan Entertainment issued a press release today officially announcing the casting of X-Men beauty Rebecca Romijn-Stamos in The Punisher. The press release confirms IGN FilmForce's earlier report that Romijn-Stamos "will play the role of Joan, the alluring neighbor of Frank Castle [Thomas Jane] with a troubled past who comes into his life after his family is killed."

"Rebecca is a dynamic addition to the cast of The Punisher," said Marvel Studios CEO Avi Arad. "She is no stranger to the Marvel Universe on screen and will have a chance to showcase her talents in a much different role. We have a great story to tell and a great cast is coming together to match it."

Artisan prexy Richard Saperstein added that "Rebecca embodies all of the qualities of this character and we are very excited to have her as part of The Punisher cast."

In related news, The Hollywood Reporter claims that Six Feet Under thesp Ben Foster has been cast in The Punisher as "Dave, the title character's deadbeat but loyal and good-hearted neighbor."

The Punisher begins filming this month in Florida for a summer 2004 release.

Just found out that WWe wrestler Kevin Nash will be in the film. He has recently bleached his hair and gotten a military-style crew cut (as a reult of losing to Chris Jericho in a hair vs hair match :D )

    Where'd you see the pics?

    Also:

IGN FilmForce has checked in with its trusty Punisher sources to get to the bottom of this whole Kevin Nash/Hulk Hogan brouhaha. So is "Big Sexy" playing Tombstone since he reportedly had his distinctive long hair shorn into a crew cut the other night?

"No one is playing Tombstone. There is no 'Tombstone' in (The Punisher)," one insider advised us without the slightest hint of ambiguity.

Tom Nowicki plays an underworld figure named "Lincoln" but he is not Tombstone.

We were told that Kevin Nash plays a "henchman" but beyond that our sources would not elaborate.

So are Hulk Hogan and Nash going to make an appearance together in The Punisher as wrestlers (as rumors online have suggested)? A source told us simply, "Hulk Hogan has been hit on the head one too many times." Yikes!

The Punisher is now filming in Florida for an April 2004 release.

EDIT: Also discovered that Roy "You're going to need a bigger boat" Scheider has been cast in the movie

    here

    Its the Green Arrow! ;)
Seems aside from small arms weapons, we get to see Frank use the good ol' composite bow and arrow. Just like John Rambo in First Blood 2: ancient warrior style

I must admit, I was never a Punisher fan until I recently read Garth Ennis' ongoing run on the title and I'm seriously impressed! I'm actually looking forward to this movie...
