What are these types of projectiles that have been mentioned here and there in the GFFA?

They are referred to a few times, mainly in text about Boba Fett. I seem to recall he had flechette rockets on his kneeguards.

They are as the name implies, dart-sized rockets. I think most are standard explosive.

Check the Essential Guide to Weapons and Technology.

IIRC, they shoot off a rocket that explodes and spreads off a bunch of shrapnel or something.

ok what they do is you shoot them. They come in canisters and when the reach oh say 5-10 meters infront of the people you are shooting at they explode and send shrapnel at the people in front of them. there are 2 types of guns a pistol and a bazooka type thing. Hopes that helps. :)

Flechette is typically in referance to a shotgun, or scatter weapon. in fetts case the rockets pry explode about a meter form the target showering the unfortunent perosn in shrapnel

There are two types, anti-personnel and anti-vehicle. The former is pistol-sized, while the latter resembles a missile launcher.

Aren't those flechette canisters as opposed to rockets?

In Star By Star, the strike team was using flechette mines along the way in the world ship, and in the frigate. I think the general idea of flechette anything is to hurt the initial target, but to also damage anything surrounding it.

Actually, their both. The EGtWaT entry on Flechette Launchers states that they are tube weapons which shoot canisters and small missiles. Standard antipersonnel rounds are apparently canisters while standard antivehicle rounds are apparently eleven centimeter long missiles. The flechettes themselves appear to be tiny darts.

They are basically projectials dbesigned to break appart into thousands of tiny, needle-like fragments that tear up the target completely.

Fletchette weapons are effectively any frag weapon... ie, a weapon that sprays the target with shrapnel, weather its a grenade, rocket, pipe bomb, mine, shotgun ect

the fletchette weapons all use the same principle... and make the same sort of big mess :D

Ironically in JKO the maker of the shotgun 'thing' is called "Fletchette Arms"... hehe... guess what their speciality wepon is... ;) :D

The little fragments are small darts with barbed edges. when fired at a person in a concentrated cone they basically shred flesh.

BTW, they are very real. And very banned by the Geneva Convention.

you can get an idea of a flechette weapon from the movie Eraser... somewhere in the beginning a flechette weapon is used, filling the kitchen of a house with hundreds of metal darts... Arnold takes one in the hand while hiding behind a knocked over fridge.

Flechette rockets, when fired, split into several fragments and hurl shrapnel everywhere. The basic theory is to cause as much collateral damage as possible (ie. damage as much of the surrounding area as possible) and or hit as many targets in a confined area as possible.
