So when are we going to get around to hashing out some lore for all the Mon Cala cruiser we saw in the Mako-Ta arc? @Sans_Fi, have you considered modelling them?

 

I believe the original Cross-Sections book also confirms this, adding that Y-wings had more sophisticated firing systems for this sort of target than the X-wings, and so they were given the first chance.

 

if you took off the fin and modified it a little bit it looks like a Resurgent-class Star Destroyer.

Palpatine's final contingency plan was to hide a "Sith Fleet" within the unknown regions. Said fleet consists of Star Destroyers equipped with “planet destroying weapons like the one on the Death Star itself.” This pretty much describes the Eclipse-class SSD... The Dark Empire connection deepens.

Alternatively, JJ & co. might have decided to reuse this concept art from TFA. Note the mini-Death Star and red coloring that seems to be a recurring design trait for everything "Sith" in TRoS.

As much as my little Dark Empire heart would love to see the Eclipse on screen or a fleet of them...I wouldn’t mind these Red Star Destroyers, not only would it fit with the mood of the Sith Trooper, they look cool and Unique. Also wonder if General Pyrde is part of the “Sith Fleet”

Those red Star Destroyers look terrible and stupid. The death star was a sphere, that doesn't mean a ship with a mini death star laser needs to have a mini death star stuck on it.

They probably won't follow those designs 1:1, They could just be inspired by this art.

The TIE Daggers were changed from the TFA concept art. It wasn't a 1:1 copy.

What if they literally looked like Eclipse Star Destroyers? I would be...I would never watch another Star Wars movie besides this one for the rest of my life.

 

And speaking of leaks, according to the Bespin Bulletin..

..the TIE we see in the trailer is called "Kylo's TIE Fighter" in official merchandise. There's also an updated Special Forces fighter, with a variant called the "Whisper Fighter" sporting a cockpit similar to the TIE/vn. Finally, the dagger has a red, sith variant. With all these new variants and the updated TIE/sf, I almost wonder if the dagger is supposed to be the new main line fighter that replaced the TIE/fo.

 

I like the design - they look like a combination of the OT star destroyers and PT trade federation command ship.

 

they also look like they took the shell of a SSD and placed a Death star right smack dab in the middle of it. also how will the Resistance even face these guys. I mean if there is a so called "First Order civil war".

 

A ton of shiny new Mon Cal cruisers and a lil bit of clever maneuvering should be enough.

 

Somebody must have also told the Resistance about a certain character's little maneuver at the Battle of Tanaab.

The superlaser dreadnaughts look like some cross between the Executor, Eta-2, Lucrehulk, and the Star Forge.

Don’t think so. Appears to be Imperial based on the box art. Also previously depicted in the Rebel Files book

 

I like the look of the Starhawk.

 

Just imagine a New Republic Defense Fleet with hundreds of Starhakw capital battleships.
