This is my personal headcanon for the Xyston. Same size and weapons and fighters, just looks a bit cooler, and has a more sith-ish look.

There sure are a lot of cool First Order Star Destroyer designs from those concept art books. The Vengeance-class looking one from the new leaked concept art was pretty nice too.

Other than the Eclipse, I really wish they would have used that Resistance Warhammer warship design in TFA as well.

The length given for the Sith Destroyer is interestingly close to a rescaled size for ISDs that's been proposed based on the size of Tantive IV by TF.N's own @Lt. Hija. I wouldn't be entirely surprised if whoever came up with that length envisaged this as a re-scale for the whole ISD class, or at least the ISD-I type seen in ANH...

On the other hand... I'm pretty sure the full-size Tantive IV seen in this movie isn't 500 feet long (that's pretty much the size of an Arleigh Burke-class destroyer). ;)

That bow has always been the signature of the Eclipse-class...

What's new here is the lack of a conventional command tower, which is a blatant modification of the original design - does this mean the Resurgent-class ships are meant to be a self-conscious modification of the Allegiance-class hull, with the traditional command tower similarly suppressed (and the hull modified for a carrier role)...? I like how it is still obviously the Eclipse, but I certainly prefer the original design with the bridge at the rear and more pyramid like structure.

I'll do a more comprehensive breakdown later, but two shots immediately stood out:

For sure a new design, one likely inspired by the fanon Blue Diver heavy carrier. Not an MC80 Liberty, as the wings don't extend along the entirety of the hull; they're more akin to large, bow-mounted fins. Hull appears to be much smoother than legacy Mon Cals.

Bunch of colorful Neb-BFs. Pleasantly surprised at how well the thin midsection integrates with the rest of the hull. If I were to guess purely based on aesthetics, this thing's a Mon Cal-KDY collaboration.

My guess would be that they wanted to fit the ship in with the First Order aesthetic (no bridge tower), while simultaneously distinguishing the "shape" of the upper hull as clearly as possible from the Resurgent. Though that does indicate just how much the terracing on the smaller ship looks like a Dark Empire callback (even if the resemblance was actually coincidental)...

Intriguing. If that's a deliberate reference - if - then we can add Niathal's Blue Diver to the list of references to all kinds of "hero ships" from around the franchise... :D

The triangular vanes and the "window" on the hull side definitely make them look like a Nebulon-B callback from this angle, and the way the forward hull drops down to the "midsection" distinguishes them somewhat from Assault Frigates. Interestingly minimal number of thrusters, too - not going to be a fast ship in realspace... [face_thinking]

I think you do! :D Interesting that those side pods aren't apparently main thrusters, with just the two in the centre.

    [face_whistling] =D=

    Indeed. :D

    Awesomeness. :D

    Some other questions/observations:

    * Anyone know what the boxy type with three engines is?
    * Something intriguing top-right in the pic above?
    * I keep "misreading" the rear view of the Free Virgillia type as two six-engined corvettes in formation. :p
    * The KDY frigate has a lot of engines, making the type look surprisingy fast...

Definitively not a Starhawk, the engines are completely different.

Nick's doing quite a job with that count! I'll see what I can do to identify all the variations.

This is a basic frontal view of the MCs in the VFX preliminaries of the close up shot.

You could have given each one their own number to show how many there are.

Quite a few Nebulon-C variants have been spotted. So whoever was having an issue with all Nebulon-Cs looking the same, you were wrong.

Two more new Mon Cals; a large, flat cruiser and another one with a cylindrical hull and bow blade. The latter's probably what a lot of us initially mistook as the MC140 Scythe-class.
