I disagree. The "copy and paste" analogy is still accurate. Not all the ships are CG kitbashed. A lot are just copy and pastes. Also I understand the CG kitbashes are automated, built randomly by computer out of copied parts of other current ships, not like a kitbash model made by a person using their ingenuity with unrelated model kits and whatever bits and pieces they can find lying around to create something unique.

Didn't the creators say that if they did it all single handedly we wouldn't be getting the movie for like a decade?!!!

Be satisfied with what we got!

My main issue is with the distribution of these ships: the screen is filled with Nebulons, Consulars and Bunkerbusters while Mon Calamari cruisers are almost always in the background and more unique designs tend to be rarer (as far as I have seen). Having the screen filled with 3-4 different (yet very similar in shape) Nebulon designs also contributes to the feeling that the same ship is being copy-pasted all over the place, especially in the background where the differences are not always easily distinguishable.

I'm also a bit curious as to why there are so many Peltas but no Acclamator, Venator or Arquitens at all. My only guess is that the design team considered it a "rebel ship" for its appearence in Rebels, despite the fact Phoenix Home was probably meant to be a repurposed Republic vessel. Some separatist vessels would have also added a bit of variety, and we've seen them used by the Alliance and pirates during the OT era.

    Wedges are evil.

Edit: Uh, as in the shape, not the pilot.

Yes, but there was no need for so many ships.

    Urmmm No!

Knowing Palpatine's history of trolling members of the Skywalker line with offers he can't back up, it would be darkly hilarious if 90%-95% of those Xystons were basically empty shells (or heck, even illusions). He only needs a handful to actually work.

More Fallanassi tricks... I love it!

So Snap is alive and crashed right through an illusionary cruiser?

Now I imagine Finn and Jannah landing on an illusion and falling right through with their horses...

Given the many Snokes in a jar,.. is every Xyxston commanded by a Snoke? If so, we may have one Snoke on the loose after Kijimi...

Well, you've always got to do your homework when entering a deal like this. Sure, Palpatine *showed* you a thousand Star Destroyers with big guns, but he never got around to mentioning that the big gun only worked on 27 of them (29 on a good day), or that the 500 off in the back are just images he's putting in your mind. If you later ask him why it seems like there were more when he first showed them to you, he just shrugs. Now, it's certainly possible to subjugate the galaxy with 27 operable Xystons and a bunch of hulls in various states of completion (some of them turn out to be plywood with Life Day lights strung up on the inside), but it takes a certain amount of creativity.

Going full circle, even Palpatine himself wasn't really back. He was a huge puppet on a crane... fake! The lightning show was all an installation and not him really firing anything into space.

It's the Second Imperium Fake Palpatine deal! Snokes people faked Palpatine to fool Kylo and the First Order as well as the Resistance. No wonder that lone Xyxston destroyer reminded everyone of Daala... it literally was the Maw Irregular fleet faking Palpatine for the Second Imperium on the big screen!

That's not really true. In the three shots that make up the fleet arrival scene, the long-distance views give equal, if nor greater, prominence to the MCs, there just happen to be fewer of them, which makes a lot of sense. By my estimate, there are around 200 MC of all kinds, themselves consisting of at least 11 different designs.

Here is the most conservative breakdown of the most obvious part of the fleet makeup, according to the Anaxes System (*Kitbashes derived from the primary design):

    Battlecruisers (2+ km):
    MC85
    MC80A-Upgrade
    *Nose Wings
    *Paddlefish
    *Mid-wings
    *Bow-Fin
    *Wide Body

    Star Cruisers: (1-2+ km)
    MC75
    *Quad-Wing
    *Dual-Wing
    *Ridge-and-Spire
    Neb-BF/Assault Fr. Mk III

    Cruisers (400-1000m):
    Nebulon-C
    *Sunfish
    *Horizontal Bow
    *Thicc
    *Engine Twist
    Vakbeor

    Frigates:
    Pelta
    Nebulon-B
    Bunkerbuster
    Paladin-II

    Corvettes:
    Hammerhead
    Dornean Gunship

Even without the kitbashes, the number of capital ships classes trumps Endor almost two-fold.

I only wish that the fleet was more organized, like in Return of The Jedi. The fleet had more organization and was slightly smaller, also maybe more scenes of pilots and TIE Daggers fighting.

I think I've found the T-6 Shuttle in a couple of shots of The Rise of Skywalker. It doesn't appear in the Galaxy Fleet shots but I've seen this two silouettes that don't fit any other ship (they might even be two different ships). But they do look a lot like the T-6 Shuttle

Also, I've made a couple of Galleries of background ships.
This is the transport that looks like a DP-20 Gunship

And this is a modular transport that can be seen all over the place:

So they're implying the hero of Vader Immortal is present?

More like they're implying that whatever faction attacks said hero in the opening of the story is present (somebody working for the Hutts). The hero flies a different ship.

The transport (a tanker?) looks very much like a transport seen prominently in Star Tours - The Adventures Continue, around the spaceport and then during the battle over Coruscant. Digital kitbash of the old ILM asset?

It's here on the left: space.jpg

EDIT: Having checked footage on YouTube, there's two similar ships in Star Tours. The one pictured is a shorter one, with a dorsal "fin" at one end. The other is longer and bears engines not too dissimilar to that of a Recusant destroyer, but inverted.

    Thrawn would have done that...

I now miss not getting an entire fighter wing of these little cutters slicing up the Exogol fleet! They basically are the end of fleetwarfare and start an era of starfighter superiority! Basically they are a cross of legends Thrawn Mole Miner strategy and the "cut through all" Suncrusher corusca gem armor!

Imagine a planetary defense network of satelites with this tech linking up in an impenetrable network of cutlines zigzagging around the planet nevelopping it. No fleet can pass through without getting sliced up and starfighters take out any remaining forces as planetary shields hold everything else at bay.

Why didn't Mon Mothma bank on them? Fear of them being used against her? A terrorist group slicing up Coruscants or Hosnian Prime's skycrapers during flyby?

Edit: Even reminds me of unused TFA cutrscene of Rey in an X-Wing with canopy open slicing up stardestroyers with her lightsaber in flyby... I mean, why not, extendeable length sabers are a thing in Legends with Corran Horn.

I kind of feel such a tactic would be like trying to take down tanks by attacking them with infantry equipped with blow torches and wrenches.

Just...a huge difference between taking apart something that is just sitting there versus something moving and defending itself.

If you're just sitting on the hull of an enemy ship and trying to drill through it, what's to stop enemy fighters from just coming by and blasting you away?
