So… With all of the spoilers coming out for the novelization, I haven’t seen any regarding the make up of Lando’s fleet. Primarily....
WHERE DID ALL THESE SHIPS COME FROM?

Anybody out there with early copies? I would love to know if they mention NR remnants

Second one from the top looks like a ship I designed when I was a kid, based on the coathangers in public restrooms.

16000 ships and only 55 new designs, impressive! How many new designs did we see and find total yet?

 

Oh, so that wasn't a YT-2400, though it's certainly inspired by it.

 

YT-2400 is still in the fleet too the Rebels version of it which was flatter than the Legends version.

And this is almost stright-up just a BT-7 Thunderclap from TOR

 

It's a cut design from Solo IIRC.

 

Maybe - it's just that it looks very similier to the Thunderclap (not indintical, mind you, but pretty close). I'm not complaining, though, becuse's the BT-7 is a cool looking ship.

Some new designs in there, though most just blend in with the tired old "scrappy underdog civvie ship repurposed for war" aesthetic. It would've been nice to see the good guys have a modern capital ship for a change but oh well...

 

I'm not sure how to attach the picture (been watching for about 100 pages, first time poster) but the thumbnail for the I09 video has probably the best look I've seen of the new MC variants.

 

I mean I'm pretty sure there were quite a few MC85 Star Cruisers in the fleet.

 

It saw Leia flying in space and decided to have a go at it too.

 

So this is the "Mining Guild Freighter from Resistance" we talked about a while ago, is this supposed to be a Darius G-class freighter? The back portion is almost identical (minus the "fins"), yet I'm a bit confused as to why they chose to kitbash it with a Consular-class rather than use the original design.

 

They could at least have hidden 1 Purgill in the fleetshot to have fans of Rebels, Thrawn and Ezra go nuts over it without it confirming anything... missed opportunity!

 

It would take a lot more work to bring that to the big screen than the ships were. The ships would fall under hard surface modeling, while a creature would more than likely need to be sculpted. Additionally, a Purgill would likely need at least some animation work which would require that it be rigged. And all for a reference that wouldn't even really make sense due to how long the gap is between TROS and Rebels.

 

The rebels Purgill models and animation is easily good enough to have been used as a distant background object like most of the ships were (I hate the purgills by the way).

 

After Mortis, and Maul's return, and Yoda's acid trip...when I saw the purrgils I was just like "eh".
