I don't see how that Imperial Cruiser couldn't be an Imperial II frigate or a Vindicator heavy cruiser? Do we get a pic of the front?

As far as I recall we don't even have a pic of an unmodded Vindicator.

 

We do actually, it's in Elite Squadron. As for this, it has no front view. Neither does the Imperial II-class frigate have nine thrusters like this, it has two large ones as well as a tailfin.

 

It shares the 9 engine line of some of the larger than ISD units as well. Given the flat bridge tower, linear engine array, I'd say Vindicator class or variant.


Was looking through Chewbacca #4 and saw the X-wings in the framing scenes, which due to the timeline ought to be late model or even XJs. I'll put up a scan when I can. They are stylized, but do share a couple unique features. They have the cross-body strakes like the Heavy-X in rebellion, and longer canopies with what looks like a couple additional transparasteel panels, though that could be a proportion thing due to an XJ being a tad shorter. The strakes, if they are an XJ, would explian how they found room to fit in a third torpedo launcher and better sensors on an XJ, despite it being a bit shorter.

 

Vindicators so far have had two or three main engines and no sensor globes/dishes like this has.

That object on the Final Prophecy cover reminds me of a Golan Defense Platform.

 

1) Yep, that's a Golan Platform. It played some role in the battle, but I don't remember what excatly. Something with pirates, I think.

2) That's one of the 5 escorting Lancer-class friagtes.

 

Haven't seen the SSD Aramadia mentioned, yet. That would either be a 4 ABY or 17 ABY first appearance.

 

A new interview with CW lead designer Kilian Plunkett reveals that there will be a new Separatist warship designed by George Lucas himself at some point. Going to be interesting to see what this will look like. Following the CIS design trends or taking a different direction.

Are you sure about the dating of the VCX ships? They were said to be the latest model of CEC freighter by the NJO era, IIRC...

I think the "late-model Executor-class" would cover the SSD Aramadia, though I am not sure; admittedly, the WOTC picture is odd. If it is not a late-model Executor-class, then it would have the same timeline placement, being a contemporary

The preview to Legacy - War #1 seems to show new Sith warships. Krayt's command vessel and its escorts look derived from the Inexpugnable-class. Props for that continuity reference.

 

Vaguely the same shape, with the vague round-ish shape with the long engine spine behind it... but lots of spikes, a very nice Sith design. Though I still wonder where he got this fleet, but meh, probably the same place that came up with such advanced starfighters for Krayt's other secret army. I reminded of the Inexpugnable-class, or the much more recent IU Trade Federation Lucrehulk maybe, although there's much more of a resemblance to the Inexpugnable. Though speaking of the TF, I'm sorta reminded of the Trade Federation's landing craft, with those big wings, with Krayt's new ships' main command deck.

Here's hoping we see them in combat soon either against Pellaeon-class Star Destroyers or Alliance Scythe Cruisers (or preferably both).

 

Those are wicked looking warships. There is a slight Inexpungable vibe, but only from that angle. It look's like Krayt's command vessel has vertical dragon wings, which fit's well with his persona and name. Assuming that they are in fact capital ships, it appears that Krayt has been building more than Sith Annihilator fighters. Methinks that he doesn't trust Veed's Imperial Starfleet to get the dirty work done...

I know that secret armies have a precedent in Star Wars but who's building these things?

 

The circle is becoming a wave.
First we have Republic Star Destroyer-lookalikes, then the Sith designs inspired by them, then the late Republic designs, then the Imperial designs based on them which are then later used by the Republic/Alliance, then the Fel Imperial designs which are then used by the Sith, which are then also used by the Fel/Alliance forces.

Now we have a Sith ship based on an ancient Republic one to counter Fel/Alliance ships used by Siths and Imperials. At this point, I wouldn't be surprised if these new designs were also built by Rendili, just to make another book-end.

 

They remind me of a fighter design I saw on some other show, but I cannot remember which.

Or two Diamond Cruisers tapped together.
