Therefore some of the Mon Cala fleet did not come from the exodus to the Tellaris system, of which the Profundity is one the first about three years later. That does seem to fit with Home One types being previously deployed exploration cruisers.

And who is that little guy on the bottom right?

The little ship is a Taylander-class shuttle. Sato's group has used them the past two seasons.

According to Matt Martin of the Story Group, this season is +/- two years before Rogue One. As for the MC80 Home One-type, it's canon that the Mon Cala also built passenger and exploration vessels, so I assume that these ships were the initial Star Cruisers in the Rebel Fleet, while the majority of the MC75 & MC80 cruisers were refitted later in the Telaris System.

Home One looks much like one of those "underwater skyscrapers" - plenty of room for it to have participated in that exodus.

Pretty sure I saw the "Red Jammer" Y-wing in the shot where the center Y blows up, which is a nice touch.

    RE: Home One-type MC80's & Liberty-type MC80's

It's canon that the Mon Cala had starships, including passenger liners, transports, and exploration vessels. These vessels, just like the city ships, would require retrofitting to become combat capital ships. In addition, we may learn that the Mon Cala also had some dedicated warships in the NEU canon. Afterall, their experiences in the Clone Wars may have prompted them to maintain a fleet.

    We'll hopefully learn more soon!

Nice fleet...but still no Dauntless-class, no Assault Frigates, no Corellian Gunships:(

If it makes you feel any better, we had Corellian gunships in an issue of the Star Wars comic.

Looks like the TIE Defender and Darktroopers are also recanonized.

Seeing the large Rebel fleet, more limited fleet in Rogue One, and still lack of X-Wings, I would love to see a recanonized Battle of Turkana- Mon Cal exploration cruisers are big and powerful, but not warships, and much of the fleet is lost to the Empire, with only new X-Wing fighters allowing part of the fleet to escape. Many of the larger ships are destroyed or damaged and need refit, while the smaller survivors are part of Raddus' group with the newly refit Profundity.

The "Darktroopers" are Imperial sentry droids. They were in an episode earlier this season.

Although Darktroopers are also canon again, thanks to Commander.

The fleet in Rogue One is only the ships that were near Yavin at the time, whereas this might be the entire fleet right now. So if anything there's room for it to grow.

I do have to say that the Rebels art style makes those pictures look near identical to the old X-Wing cutscenes with the side on views.

Agreed that it is missing Dauntless and Liberator cruisers, and CC series ships. Then it would look a lot better. Too many of the recent new ships have been Mon Calamari, which is a bit cliched at this point. Especially in this time frame. Profundity could have easily been a Sorosuub design, as it is basically a slightly rejigged Dauntless cruiser.

I don't know, unless I'm mistaken only one new ship type has been Mon Calamari so far, doesn't really seem like too many to me.

I love Raddus, but big Mon Cal ships with Mon Cal Admirals with a swarm of smaller escorts is so often used that it has become cliche for the Rebel Fleet. Profundity was a missed opportunity, being a design that is basically a film version of the SoroSuub Dauntless cruiser, with few distinct Mon Cal stylings. But nostalga for Ackbar got us yet another Mon Cal ship with again a Mon Cal admiral.

It's still just one new ship type.

Regardless, I don't think a Dauntless cruiser would have fit with the established canon. Big Mon Calamari ships with smaller escorts are so often used because canon states that, in the early years of the Rebellion at least, the Mon Calamari ships were really the only big ones they had. The Rebellion doesn't have the funding or the cohesion to swing big capital ships at this point, it's only the support of the Mon Cala that allows for this to happen.

Even in the old canon, the Dauntless cruiser wouldn't have made sense at this point. Sullust is still under Imperial control, and until it's liberated I see no reason for the Rebellion to have SoroSuub ships. Post-liberation, absolutely, but not yet. Nien Numb was stealing for the corporation on behalf of the Alliance, but he can't really steal a 1,200 meter long ship.

Funny enough, in retrospect the MC75 reminds me of the Legends EU Shashore-class frigate from the Legacy comics (though without the silly exposed bridge, they don't have to follow KDY design philosophy all the time :p ), but then the GA ships of that time were mass-produced standardized Mon Calamari ships which is why they were more removed from the RotJ-era individualized cruisers. (No idea if that comparison has already been made, I only saw the movie last week and was avoiding spoilers before that.) So its all kind of circular thinking, leading to or from the organic Mon Cal designs.

It does also kind of resemble the CIS ships which were also adapted/stolen from Mon Calamari plans, so that works out nicely. The Visual Guide said it used to be a building on Mon Cala (wonder if that also takes inspiration from the Hidden Temple in Legacy), but a refit of a CIS ship sounds like a good origin too for parts of the Rebel fleet.

I liked the Profundity's design, but it doesn't quite fit in between the more elegant MC40 and MC80 ships, but then the MC40 haven't been recanonized so that doesn't really matter either. And they stuffed KDY engines in there so it might have been a rush job or they're still getting the hang of converting Mon Calamari ships into warships.

That is a really nice shot from the Rebels trailer, but I don't mind them not having much bigger ships so far, they're barely able to field Corellian Corvettes and Hammerheads at the moment.

Didn't notice that Interdictor cruiser when I saw the new Rebels trailer the first few times. Pretty cool, guess it went into production, and its always nice to see some much needed variety in an Imperial battle group.

High hopes a Star Destroyer will get to do something cool this season in a fleet battle or a bombardment.

Right after the shot of the star destroyers firing I think you see some people planetside looking up as the turbolasers strike a shield.

Come one, Interdictors are Thrawn's favourite ships. Of course he'd have one in his fleet.

Well, it really no different then every Imperial ship being a Kuati wedge shaped design. Variety isn't what the average fan wants, they want familiarity. :p

Having said that, I did think of you the first time I saw the Profundity, as it definitely reminded me in a lot of ways of the old Dauntless-class. Look at the bright side, at least it wasn't another MC80, at least we got a new class of these ubiquitous lumpy warships.

I'm interested to see how big the Home One-type model is going to be in Rebels. HOPEFULLY it's gonna be bigger than 1.2- 1.3km! [face_praying]

I disagree....I think the Imperial KDY Wedge shape shows uniformity....but having all these different designs for the Rebels shows it is an alliance of a lot of different groups. I personally like the seeing ships of different designs.
