Hopefully the Wookieepedia articles for Mega-class and Supremacy, can be updated to name the app as the source - so they don't get deleted after a week.

 

Honestly, I don't have a side in the minimalist-versus-maximist fight overall. I just like to laugh at the Saxtonites.

Whoever finds and post screen caps of the cruiser Raddus will be awarded an Admiral of the Fleet Commendation, given a field promotion to Rear Admiral, and a place of my staff. I'm also willing to fully abuse my modly powers to get these.

Wish I could get that promotion but I arrived four hours late to Force Friday because I struggled to wake up this morning.

 

Interesting design for the Supremenacy. Like the name for sure. Also like that its different from the typical Star Destroyer design. As mentioned above I would think the 60 km got to be the width, but I guess we shall see. Hope it and the Mandator-IV each get their own cross section entry.

 

So wonder if there will be another ship named that can combine with the Mega-class to form the Supremacy Leader. Oh well, hammy villains are nothing new. And I thought the Mandator IV and Resurgent-class were already kind of big (they're skipping past the regular kilometer long Star Destroyers and going straight up to the battle cruiser and dreadnought range).

I really hope the Resistance or what's left of the Republic has something that can slow those things down. At least this year's Cross-Sections has a lot more to work with. Just hope they don't have too many fold-out pages, those are always a bit awkward to read. I'm still a bit sad Rogue One never got a Cross-sections (the Visual Guide is nice, but its not the same, and between the U-wing, TIE Striker, Profundity and Dornean gunship that should be enough for a book).

 

The ROVG had plenty of cross sections, but only for a select new vehicles. It didn't have any for the AT-ACT, the AT-ST the Profundity, or really any of the Rebel or Imperial capital ships at all, just all the fancy new small-scale ships. Thankfully with these reveals it looks like TLJ's ICS book will be more than a few walkers, airspeeders, and the fighters everybody already knows about.

And if anybody wants pics of the new Raddus, best bet is to buy the BB8 doll yourself because a lot less people are gonna be buying it now that it's the old model from 1-2 years ago, it's all about that BB-9E (aka BB-H8) new hotness.

 

Ships in Rogue One (from memory, correct me if I missed anything):
- MC75 Profundity - CR90 Corvette
- Dornean Gunship - Nebulon B frigate
- GR75 transport - Hammerhead Corvette
- Ghost - X-wing - Y-wing - U-wing

- Lambda class shuttle - Delta class shuttle
- Zeta class cargo shuttle - Eta class supertanker
- Imperial Star Destroyer - Death Star
- TIE fighter - TIE shuttle - TIE Striker - TIE Reaper
- TX225 tank - AT-ST - AT-ACT

Cross Section diagrams in the ROVG:

That leaves a lot of potential for canon cross-sections alone (as much as I love the Complete Vehicles compilation from 2013 it's got very dubious scaling and technological quirks).

And as far as TLJ goes, we've got all these potential ships for a hearty cross-sectional like TFA had, but didn't really deserve:

- unnamed LEGO spider walker
- Canto Bight speeders
- Resistance ski speeders

Also, that Supremacy is ... something else. I get flashbacks to this thing.

I thought the same well with the "Ultra-class", nothing like a Star Destroyer where the old Eclipse can fit in its hanger

The top view from behind, shows more engines in the wing, that the 22 that are revealed in the bottom view. Maybe update the Wookieepedia pages to say "at least 28 engines" (3 more in each wing)?

It's hard to tell if the two pairs on either side of the main engine bank, are the same ones that are visible in the "from underneath" shot - but if they're too far out to be the belly engines, then that might add even more to the total.

I actually like the idea of a massive fleet headquarters/mobile shipyard, but the Supremacy sounds a bit over the top.

 

Thanks to the resizing clarification, it's technically shorter than an Executor, from bow to stern.

What's the point of a ship the size of the Executor? Or the Death Star? It's to be big and intimidating.

And in this case, the ship doubles as a mobile shipyard - so, it needs to be bigger than Star Destroyers, to build them inside itself.

 

As the First Order is basically a military junta that runs on fear and oppression, if it were headquarted in a static location sooner or later a populace would rise up to rebel and turn Brenito Huxxolini into a hanging salami. With a giant mobile space fortress acting as a "Sword of Damocles" there's no easy target for local resistance groups. Hence, the Tarkin Doctrine put to its most pragmatically strained practice.

I'm REALLY hoping the Raddus is a Viscount-class. Three weeks ago, I would have considered that as much of a pipe dream as seeing a K-Wing in this movie, but then they went and gave us a Mandator-class and we entered a world of limitless possibility.

 

We are go for the Raddus.

Interesting that it is a 3km, pre-Concordance built as a warship. I'm guessing that the Mon Cala started cranking out new cruisers as soon as the New Republic was established, perhaps based on a design they already had plans for.

I definitely like it better than the Viscount, but I'm not wholly sold on its excessively streamlined hull, I need more things sticking off of it instead of looking like a simple rocket ship or an art deco locomotive. Maybe it's got some silhouette-breakers from another angle. I am a big fan of that little rostrum up front, very crustacean.

 

TLJ is turning out to be a ships fan dream! 2 new SDs, cool bombers from the resistance, cool Mon Cala cruiser, cool tie silencer... all around awesome!
