Well, while I dont nessassarly agree with HOW he said it, I do agree with the sentiment behind it. If there's a banner on the splash screen, I've yet to see it.

No authorized pre-orders yet. No authorized dealer will be allowed to take pre-orders until MR makes the official announcement. Bookmark that link that SithAboveAll posted and you'll be OK.

I've got some pics of the Maul FFX over in the Prop Replica section over at The Exchange (link below). It's the Sneak Preview thread.

The original Anakin ROTS had many plastic pieces that let it have a very light "toy-like" weight to it. The newer version uses more metal and is quite heavy. So, if it feels like a toy it is most likely the original and if it feels like a heavy metal weapon its the new one.

As for the AOTC Anakin...easiest way to tell is when you unscrew the grip section from the rest of the hilt there will be a black rubber seal (rubberband like thing) and the point where the two pieces meet. That is the V.2 one. If there is no seal then you have the original V.1 release that hardly ever works.

I'd love to see your vids, SAA.

Many of the moves are the same, but its the order in which they are used and the fluid movements between each which makes a Jedi. It is difficult to finish one move and carry on to another, since I'm practically pausing as I choose. Guess I'll have to start to plan and choreograph my moves.:)
If only I had a camcorder...

I'm telling ya man, I'm the SW Kid all the way. Of course, when the Maul FFX comes out, I'm sure they're be a lot of people looking like the SW Kid.

Sorry if I don't post direct links to stuff in my forums. I'm trying to respect the people that run this one by not pimping. But anyone with a brain can find it... or just PM or e-mail me.

Well, I've read the entire GIANT topic. Whew. Anyway, I'm contemplating buying one of these things, and I'm torn between the Anakin ROTS and Vader ESB. It seems to me that the Anakin one has a brighter blade and seems to have more people saying that it's easier to spin around and duel with, etc. However, the Vader one looks to have less problems with blotching, creaking, and rattling, as well as well, BEING VADER'S SABER! :)

So if I had to choose only one (which I will, at least for a few months, my financial situation being... not ideal. heh.) which one do you guys think would be a good choice? I've seen a Vader and played with it a bit in store, and really like the sounds. Haven't run across an Anakin on display yet.

Oh, and I'm also in Canada, so any Canadians (specifically in Vancouver, if there's anyone from around here) know of retailers that have them at good prices? I've seen them $150-160 at Future Shop/London Drugs type retailers, but nothing cheaper. Thanks!

I've got the Vader, and I must say it's brilliant. And if you hold it at the chrome area, then its just as easy to twirl as any other (cept one of the clips digs into your finger). Holding the chrome bit gives it great balance. The Vader isn't as bright, since blue is a brighter colour but that means you don't see all the imperfections like the Anakin. I've had no trouble with it, the only trouble its given me is a heart attack when I notice the blade dim before I realise it needs some more batteries.:).

It's all based on personal tastes, but the kickass, unique 'don't mess with me' sound is really threatening and just wins it over. Unfortunately, it only has one clash sound. I think the Obi Wan will be the best FX sbaer around, so that's why I'm waiting till then before I get my blue one.

Hey, I'm Canadian too, and had similar questions... but luckily I found the answers to most too :) I was considering getting either vader's or anakin's, and chose vader's in the end. To me the anakin looked cheap, because there was too much chrome and I really didn't like the fake gold and bronze on the switches and buttons. The chrome also tends to wear off: I saw an anakin on display at bestbuy and it had been tried so often that the switch's gold coating wore off to reveal ugly, YELLOW plastic. It was just awful. I much preferd the brushed steel look and brown button of the Luke ESB... but that isn't easy to find in stores.

The vader's on the other hand has almost nothing to wear off... since you hold the rubber grips and the switch is just clear plastic. The only thing that wears off is the rubber coating on the little external wires, so they end up looking plasticy but it's only happened to the red wire for me. Other people's beefs are the fact that it's hard to hold... but I found it easier to hold than anakins. I like holding vader's on the rubber grips only, not the chrome. Hold it one handed like the man in ESB, it's great ;) Anakin's rubber grip is smaller and there's something sticking out of the side... it's a charging port or a belt clip or something. I don't like holding the chrome because it gets dirty and can wear off.

Anakin's is probably brighter though, but I haven't seen it in darkness. The sounds may be more co-ordinated as well, some people say vader's makes sounds almost at random, which I found at first, too. But if you hold it with the switch facing downwards, with your index and middle finger's on the switch, it seems to react more precisely. There's also only one clash sound for vaders and it is hard to activate, but I don't duel or smash much anyways. The blade is nice too, no imperfections.

Most is personal preference... so I say try and find both on display somewhere, try them out. You could also wait to see the new obiwan... it is looking good and since it's newer it probably has some minor improvements. As for locations, in Canada I've seen them at futureshop, best buy, toys r us, and some costcos stocked them for a while too. $139 was the best price I saw them for, on boxing sale, and in canada that's pretty good. Normal is about $159.

Isn't the grip section a bit fat for you? When holding it, I can't get my entire hand round it and holding it at the base makes it very difficult to twirl. You can get some good swings out of it, but they are largely uncontrollable. I was fearful of the chrome wearing off, but nothing has happened yet.

Well I've got pretty big hands, so it's a good fit for me. Plus I keep two fingers on the switch and my thumb around the smooth black part so I'm holding it more or less in the middle, and if I want to hold it 2 handed I can put my other hand around the bottom.

That's why it's best to try before you buy... you really have to see what each one is like for yourself.

Well, my replacement ROTJ Luke arrived on Wednesday. I took it outside after dark and swung it about like a madwoman, to make absolutely certain the blade was nice and tight. It is. Everything about it is excellent. Also, I finally got my hands on some Energizer E2s. They definitely make a difference. My new green saber is noticeably brighter and louder than my old one was.

There's only one little problem, though..... Only my ROTJ Luke came. I was supposed to get a replacement ESB Luke, too. I don't understand it. When I called and reported my two bad sabers to customer service, replacements for both were ordered at the same time. So they should have both arrived at the same time. Yet it's now Saturday night, and still no ESB Luke. "I have a bad feeling about this." Either the customer service rep screwed up, or.....and the second alternative is far worse.....I'm going to get a refund instead of a replacement because the "warehouse surplus" is gone. I'm going to be quite upset if they can't/won't send me a replacement saber. What do you all think? I'm planning to call them on Monday anyway to ask what the heck is going on.
