Do they have any unmistakable features to tell one from the other, i.e. is one of them described as having a scar, being tall, small, fat ...

Luke and Mara meet Thrawn in TTT which takes place 9 ABY.

Then they meet Formbi in SQ which takes place 22 ABY, 13 years later. At they end of SQ Mara has doubts that Formbi could be Thrawn, IIRC.

The next time they meet Formbi is in DN, which takes place 35 ABY, another 13 years later (coincidence?).

Are they sure it is the Formbi of SQ? How hard is it to tell one Chiss from another for a human in the GFFA?

BTW, according to the numbers above Thrawn will return 48 ABY. So the clone from the fallback facility in the Redoubt which got triggered after the events of VotF will have approximately the same age as Thrawn in TTT.

Mara didn´t think that Formbi was Thrawn, but that the whole Chiss plot of getting Vagaari to attack first was to her something that Thrawn could have come up with, and she thought that there could be a Thrawn clone alive pulling the strings. Or at least that´s what I remember, almost a year after reading SQ. (Certainly the plot would have been unthinkable for OF Formbi; but people do change, so...)

Formbi does seem age rather quickly between SQ and DN considering that the Chiss are supposed to be a long living race. Perhaps accelerated aging resulted from Formbi in SQ and DN being a clone of Thrawn?

Chiss lifespan is the same as humans.

Although there certainly an argument for the Formbi of SQ onwards being Thrawn (and by that I mean Thrawn himself, rather than a clone), there's a better argument against it.

Except that both Thrawn and Formbi are together in Outbound Flight... I'd see no reason for Formbi in SQ and up to be a Thrawn clone...

Yeah like Rouge77 said, Mara suspected that the Thrawn clone was pulling the strings, not Formbi = Thrawn. :)
