I'm just recovering from a nasty bout of Corellian fever. Um. Really, I felt so ill I couldn't think straight. Only yesterday evening I recovered enough to begin thinking about another smallish post.

Queengodess: Yeah, you?re right about Jix. He?s constantly testing his limits though. About the eyebrow thing, well, you have to ask Vader. Writing Xizor is actually fun. And cutting hand off - well, hurting is the very point of punishment in Palpy?s book, methinks.

Daath666: Yep, everyone is evil, except Vader, he?s just big and bad. And Jix is simply bad. Otherwise he wouldn?t tease him so.

you didn't come to our little get-together and that has me seriously worried. Don't isolate yourself! I realize, all this news about Vader being Anakin Skywalker must have come as a shock - hell, it was a shock for all of us! But you cannot let it pull you down. Some newsies from the capital world. Nothing so big as the previous, but still interesting, I?d fathom.

The very secret palace rumours say Emperor?s Inner Council is still in debates over declaring martial law in a couple of sectors or throughout the galaxy. Apparently, Palpatine pressures for a galaxy-wide martial law, but has found strong opposition from his council (they have trade interests!), from his Lizardly Best Friend (would be hard to do his dirty business under gun-point, I suppose, regardless of Old Palpy?s similar leanings) and, surprise, surprise, the Ugly One himself. The Sith supposedly does not want to blow this out of proportions and signal the populace that the government is not able to deal with ?a bunch of madmen?.

The tone between Jix and Vader reminds me of my relationship with my uncle (actually he's more the big brother I never had).

I can't recall us ever having said a friendly word to each other. But there can be a lot of affection hidden in an insult. Especially if you really take the time to make it colourful.

I never had a big bro, and always dreamed of one.

Here I imagined Vader ranting all over the place (well, relatively decently, as writing down a swear word for his cur of an agent would be too low for our Mr High'n'mighty, ne?), and then sighing and saying what is really on his mind. Is Jix smart enough to read between the lines?

Yeah, yeah, viggie, viggie. You, of course, realize that it would be SLASH? Well, among other things I'm also very uncomfortable about writing slash. Reading, yes, reading is okay. Reading is another matter entirely.

Moreover, Vader slash is still another step towards the dark side of the ficforce. I'm not sure I've ever read a Vader slashfic that wasn't icky or squicky. Is Vader slashy material at all? Don't know. Don't think so. Hence all those interminable Mary Sues.

But maybe I should try to overcome this Vader-slashfic-fear. Anybody more brave in this respect, want to talk about it in private mail? PM me.

Oh, I wish to strangle Borsk... how can Mothma tolerate that slime?! I mean, you write the guy well!

 

I don't know. I've never read EU where he comes up, and seen him only in fanfic. Usually Borsk is made nasty and power-hungry in fanfic; here I imagine he would be a bit teasing and quite a bit condescending towards Mothma, but he would also constantly supply her with good, accurate, confidential information, ahead from any media. (Um. Not that there's anything confidential about launching Lady Ex - consider it just a heads-up from him.) In brief: Borsk is useful.

Another character who got a voice here is Rieekan. Apparently he lives a life of his own, because I never wanted to make him sound such a buddy-buddy. But I think he is very courageous and has a sort of wry humour, and he hates Dodonna's puffed-up, bureaucratic style.

 

I agree that for the most part the Vader-slash that has been written so far is pretty? well, terrible. The writers have only pictured him as pure dominating evil.

But if a talented writer would spend a little time on our Lord?s, in my opinion, complex inner life, and gave him a partner with personality as well, it could be a nice story. ? Slash or het.

The problem is that there is so few people that could be paired with Vader in the SW universe. And if you limit yourself to women it becomes a even bigger problem.
Padmé is probably dead so that really leaves Jabba?s dancers, Mon Mothma, Mara or Leia (And not even my sick mind will go there).

 

Actually, I've read several Vader/Leia fics. It was never mentioned there that she was his daughter, some were written even before ROTJ so her being his daughter wasn't even part of the paradigm then; or it could be assumed that they weren't aware of their relationship. In any case, incest wasn't brought into the equation. The stories were all fascinating. Leia is IMHO the only female character, besides Padme, who would make a good fic-partner for Vader.

 

If they are well written as you say, maybe my mind will go there. At least to check it out.

Umm. So. I have sort of lost interest in this. It's like, been there, done that; and the rest would be your usual father/son tripe anyway, like who's your mum, who's your dad, who's my mum and what happened, the Vader's side of events. I don't much care about the beaten paths; and moreover, there are dozens and hundreds who have done this before me, better than me.

And Leia/Vader...well, read one of those, dunno when it was written, but I found it...icky. Sure, maybe Leia and Vader wasn't related in that one, but I couldn't get that nasty word - incest - out of my mind.

Oh...and could we have more story? Pretty please?

 

I said I'm pondering, not that I'm writing. I've thrown a few sketches into the recycling bin. You find Vader/Leia icky, I find Vaderslash icky. Especially the more romantic or tender or soft sort, not your sithly domination. I can't get it out of my head what I read from somewhere, that basically Vader is all cybernetic, metal and plastic and stuff from the waist down. Ick! Droid sex! (For some reason this argument never comes up in het! LOL! Talk about honest, consistent and non-hypocritical approach.)

As for FMTY, it is dead. I'm not going to continue, for it goes WRONG, WRONG, WRONG. Refer to three messages above this one.
