You're really getting a lot of flak for a thread you started April 1st, aren't you Vapor?

I have more flak in my coat than the pilots in the final scenes of Pearl Harbor, thanks for asking.

What's with the Bay/Bruckheimer references today?
    Crikey.

EDIT: I like how no matter how good a day I'm having in the real world, Dorkman always manages to make me feel like a pile of utterly useless crud.

This makes 132 posts in a release thread with no release.
    Is this a record?
If not, what do we have to shoot for?

    Will someone call Guinness??

    Anyway, the reason I'm posting:
I've spoken to a few on my non-filmmaking (non-biased) friends along with some of the filmmakers (those you will find here), and I've come to a decision.

    I probablywon't be releasing FA2.

What I will do though, is release Furious Angels as a whole unit.
FA1 is done, and in hi-res quality on my HD.
FA2 is nearly completed, and awaits being rendered after my final adjustments.
    FA3 is being filmed Sunday.

I was intending to release these as a mini-series, and then re-edit them as a whole later, but I no longer see the need for a middleman, since I'll have FA3 recorded as of Sunday afternoon, and FA2 will still be in it's prime editing-program format.
I may even take this oppurtunity to re-edit FA1, as those of you who have seen the commentary version know I was displeased with it in the end, and I believe I could fix that problem and make the film better.

    What do you think?
Would you rather see a piece of it sooner, or the whole thing a little bit later?

Aw. I feel bad for you Vapor.
We know you worked really hard on this. We were just having a little fun.

If you're filming FA3 this sunday, drop me a PM if you need help with any rotoscoping. I'd be glad to help you out. :)

I'll probably need a TON of help with rotoscoping if I want to release it before the new decade.

For FA3, I want the duel to be dark and depressing, but we have to film during the day because I don't want another super dark night-fight, and because my opponent is an RA and is usually on duty at night.
Such a moody setting would require clouds, and possibly rain.
Weatherman predicts sunshine for Sunday, and lots of it.

I'm going to have a lot of work to do.

Sky replacement, shadow removal, color correction, lightsaber glows, and now ambient glow, thanks to DMP's proof of concept. Also, if I feel tricky, I may make it rain for a select portion of the film. I'm going to have to decide before we film though, so I know whether or not we have to drench the actors (one of whom would be me). Not very much additional rotoscoping would be required, but I would need a looping rain layer, along with lots and lots of sparking contact flares, as per my rainsaber test from a few months back. The sparks aren't canon if you watch AotC, but I think they'd be cool regardless. If not rain, there will probably be lightning, but for a certain scene/shot I have in mind, I'd prefer to have both.

Keeping all this in mind, FA3 is either going to be my best project to date, or it's going to become a film that turns out so bad, people will compare it to my cafeteria's version of philly cheese-steak sandwiches. Soggy green peppers included.

    Time will tell.

    What do you think?

Release it now, so that you may benefit from the criticism it receives before you shoot the 3rd installment.

I'll admit I like that idea... but if I release what I have rendered right now, I will most assuredly be told about mistakes which are already bright as day to me.

However, you raise a solid point.
I do have the "Uber-render" on my hard drive... tho it has a bunch of mistakes, crappy sabers, massive file size, etc., but I could put that up for public review and then list the things I for sure will be changing before the final release.

    Hmmm.. good call Spiff.
    Alright, I'm doin' it.
I was gonna turn off my computer tonight, but now it's project is to compress like woah.

The Rough Cut of FA2 will be online ASAP, people.
    //impulsive

EDIT: AE is compressing it. I hit Render at the exact stroke of midnight, just for kicks (and because I was ready to click it about 11:59:45).
I'll be putting this online no matter what, since you all know/will know it's not my final version. I'll just post it in here too, no need for a new thread.

    I now feel somewhat accomplished.
    You rock, Spiff.

I'd say: Feed 'em FA2 now and take your time on FA3 so they have something to munch on. We've been waiting 6 pages anyway...

I so influence the past like none other

    Dude, I've got a Dell.

It'll be at least a month.

Actually, this isn't your standard Dell Dimension 2400. My best friend is a computer nerd in many more 1337 ways than I, and he helped me choose some parts to upgrade it. I've put in a Radeon and tripled the RAM since I got it.. and I'd swear I've done something else but I don't remember what.
    I'm also overclocking.
Oh, a network card and a wireless card. Those don't count.

EDIT: 16 minutes later, the film is 6% rendered.
You do the math, I'm goin to bed.

Ok ok, I won't start that again.

Seriously though, send me some clips of FA3 and I'll totally help you out.

I don't understand it, sure, but I also refuse to watch it because it'd be an utter waste of my time based on those few opening seconds.

    It's uploading.
The file is 277mb, so this may take a bit.
    That's a good size for a 30-minute file, right?
