anyone notice John DiMaggio was credited first in this new season? I always thought Billy West got first billing. John said he never got a raise when he was holding out so maybe they gave him first billing? Anyway, it was amazing to see the show again, came back still really entertaining. It wasn't nearly as emotional as Meanwhile turned out to be but it came back legit zany still.
And then Katey got first billing this episode so I guess it's alternating. Anyway, funny episode with some genuinely heartfelt stuff, Lauren Tom is always great as Amy so good to see her stretch out a bit. the scene with Kif's kids crawling out of the swap was great Spoiler "Four of them made it!" *chomp* "Well, three and a half"
Anyone else watching the new episodes? They seem to be attempting to appeal more to the heart than the funny bone which isn't really working for me. 1103 was okay but the whole Wild West / gold rush story is just tired and uninspired. 1104 was just a big Dune reference. Also, a Fred Astaire tap dancing reference not once but twice? I bet the kids were crying so hard from laughter they had to pause the show to wipe away the tears.
“The kids”? I haven’t seen the new episodes, but it’s a revival of a revival of a show that debuted in 1999. No one watching is under 30. Mind you, I suspect in general no one is watching.
I never not want a Dune parody. Also Kyle MacLachlan was in it! Won't see Villeneuve doing that. Also Nibbler talks gag with Leela was amazing (and talking Nibbler episodes are always a bonus, although usually they're Fry lore episodes)
Even if I had past Nibbler episodes / lore fresh in my head, I don't think it would increase my enjoyment of the episode. Kyle MacLachlan is a cool Easter egg, but to truly enjoy his work, I'd rather watch Portlandia.
I've loved all the episodes so far! @Ramza The new Futurama revival is the # 2 most streamed show on Hulu!
I've enjoyed the episodes well enough. This revival is better than some of the earlier revivals, but it's still -- predictably -- missing that first-run magic. And it saddens me that Billy West has gone from a man of a thousand voices to a man who can do two voices: Billy West and Zoidberg. But that's age for you. He's still an excellent voice actor, but his incredible ability to mask his voice has unfortunately faded.
The Momazon episode was great. And people are totally watching also, it hit the top 5 streaming chart at #3 tied with Lincoln Lawyer (and a few spots ahead of Secret Invasion and Strange New Worlds). I think it's interesting that the new season was announced a few months after the series hit Disney Plus when the Star section (aka Not USA Hulu) started, I'm assuming that bump of Disney Plus numbers had an influence
XMas episode in August kind of weird but that's streaming services for you but anyway Santa mayhem and when Farnsworth went around the time travel horn from the future backwards there was a 1 second clip of Disenchantment which I think legally you're allowed a 1 second clip of anything and Disenchantment being even further in the future than Futurama makes sense. Anyway Sewer natural turducken was the best. "Are they hard to catch?" "No, they crave death."
The Farnsworth from the original Futurama universe is now in the second instead the third universe - the one where he killed Hitler
It's because it won't be on at Christmas. I absolutely loved the Christmas episode! Best Christmas episode in 21 years! Although I loved the Christmas elements to Benders Big Score! Also is this the Matt Groening show's thread also? If so I watched the first 5 episodes of season 5 Disenchantment it is fantastic, the animation, the comedy the drama and the fact the story follows a cohesive flowing story I absolutely love it it deserves more then 5 seasons way more then 5 seasons ...
I found season 11 to be lackluster. I'll watch season 12 but I'm definitely going in with low expectations.
