Falleen allies, we wish for you to take command of our two assault dreadnaughts. Please take command of them and place your command crews on them. We also wish you to take command of the assault for the next 72 hours

OOC: ok the AD's are to be taken over by faleen, ie thier credit responcibilities, crews, bonus, negatives, everything. They are also going to command the rest of by fleet as I am going away for 72 hours and do not want to fall behind. He is a friend of mine and anything he does is me doing something. I know this is odd but at this point in the game being away that long is costly and slows down the game for everyone. Anything he does with my empire will be done using my account but he will indicate that it his him and not me.

EDIT BY OCTAVULG: Remain calm. The difference will be clear. And if the Falleen somehow end up with the Wookiee fleet, well, Janson and Ton can deal with me. :p

    Everyone:

I recomend that we all just wait until we hear from Janson. I understand it is hard since we all want to continue this, but he is the game master and we should wait for him. Ton is doing an excellent job in filling in for him, but we really just should wait.

I for one have refrained from colonizing and building this past week as I wait for Janson's response. I think we all should. Until we recieve a current and up to date Daily PM from Janson, we should try to slow the pace of the game down.

Anyways, that is my take. :)

Unfortunately, waiting for Janson has been known to take a VERY long time (last game Ambria never finished at all and I sat with an enemy SSD in my system for, IIRC, two weeks. And that was without computer trouble to slow things down).

I say that as long as we are not resolving major PvP battles, there is little/no need to wait for Janson. Ton checks things with Janson, and I think we are all trustworthy enough to keep track of our buildings et al in the interim, though notifying Ton is a good idea.

And frankly, waiting for Janson seems to occupy a vast majority of my time. I'm of an impatient bent. :p Things are getting done, no one is getting wiped out...why worry?

Why not find out approximately when Janson is due to return, and if it is within a "reasonable" timespan, we wait, otherwise we go ahead with Ton until JYA returns?

Well the reason I say yes for waiting for Janson, is because Ton_g is only doing certian peoples updates. The people being ignored are myself, solinari, 777, jhc36. Notice how all the people in cromwells allaince have updates for colonizing planets and other stuff, while the rest of us are waiting to colonize our 2nd or 3rd planet. This is very unfair to us, since your empires are huge and we are small.

Im not trying to rant on or be mean to Ton_g, but still, we should've paused the game and have janson get back up to speed, so all of us could get an equal chance.

    Agreed.

The problem is that some of us have not been colonizing, building, and researching for days now. If other players have been, that gives them an unfair advantage.

Therefore, I think that we should at least give Janson a day or two. Either one of us or Ton can try to contact him and get his ruling on the matter.

I agree that the game is going slow, but it is Janson's game, not ours. The problem with the last game was that people were doing their own updates, builds, etc, and things got a little confused.

So, how about we agree on a 48 hour pause. During this timespan, we can try to contact Janson and find out whats going on.

48 hours is hardly a long wait. What do you all say?

Though Ton would be quite justified in killing me for suggesting this, there is nothing to stop you asking him to update you. I asked him if he would update my planets and colonization, and he did (I expected other people to do the same). I think, though I am not sure, that jhc36 got an update for Helska, or at least was told he could take the planet. I see no reason why you should not receive the same consideration (but I am not Ton.) He seems to get a perverse enjoyment out of doing them. :p

If he doesn't want to do updates for about six, ten or more people right now, for which I would not blame him in the least, I shall cease and desist with my colonizing and expansion for the duration of Janson's absence. Unless it lasts another few weeks, in which case I'm going to start zooming across the stars again.

However, even if he says "no more growth, we're waiting for JYA," I see no reason why researching and normal building should not continue (ie ships and structures), as well as that battle at Umbara, since no colonizing is taking place there. Just a good, healthy dust up.

Besides, it's been going on for a week, and I still haven't shot anyone. :) I want to finish it before the end of May, if at all possible.

And, BTW, it has been four days since I sent Janson my update. He has yet to even open it, I know that for certain. I would rather suspect all of you are in a similiar situation.

And your "notice how the people in cromwell's alliance" claim? Notice how the people who got updates asked Ton whether he could do them. This was admittedly much easier for me, since I know him, but I think if bterrik were GMing, you might ask him if he could do you the same courtesy. And I'd frankly be surprised if he said no.

Believe it or not, we are only passively out to get you. ;)

EDIT: This is what happens when you write long posts. People start talking, and you have to edit to reply to them. :)

I have no problem with a 48 hour wait, as long as everything is entirely paused.

And I keep track of my own stuff, personally, and have Janson check it. It saves him some work, and prevents overloading mistakes. He gave me two copies of my homeworld once. :) Wish I coulda kept them.

However, I think contacting Janson may be difficult at best. I know Ton has been in contact with him (or has implied such. He got the defenders of Karbala out of him, I know that), so with a bit of luck they can talk on Saturday evening.

If we can't get him after 48 hours, what shall we do? Everyone scramble to catch up? We pause for another few days while you gentlemen catch up? Decide when we get there?

In light of Janson's computer problems, I am going to take over his IC updates until he gets back. I have gotten my life back in order after Germany, and am ready to resume my duties. Apparently, Ton_G didn't feel like posting for the folks that have been neglected since April 14. If I have missed your update, send me a PM and I'll take care of it. If you normally work with Janson for things, PM them to me and I'll try and sort things out. For now, I'm trusting those of you who are not working with Ton_G to keep track of your own daily updates.

As for the unfairness of players without updates, I will be having a conversation with Ton_G shortly about this, and Janson as soon as he returns.

    Thanks,

    bterrik

    Thanks bterrik. :)

    --Nick

    2nd EDIT:

    Octavulg:

We were both talking at the same time. :p

Anyways, I think it would be best if we let both Ton and bterrik sort things out.

As to your idea about letting some of us catch up, I think that would be real cool. I haven't researched a tech in days, so I am a little behind.

I am sure that we will be able to work this out. We all want this game to be fun and sucessful, and I am sure it will be. :)

    Thanks,

    Nick

Have you been here, bterrik? No? Then why are you suddenly qualified to comment on how and why Ton handled the situation?

The people who have been "neglected" since April 14 could easily have asked him to do updates for them, especially when they saw him doing them for others. Ton was approached by me, not the other way around, something the other players could easily have done for themselves. You implication of neglect and intentional exclusion is both insulting, disturbing, and disgusting.

And as I said in an earlier post, Ton returns to his computer on Saturday, April 24th. I would not expect swift response to your PM.

And, OOC, how is this updating working. Are those who have not been updated of late being brought up to speed (effectively getting a highly accelerated seven odd days of doing stuff)? Or are we all simply to send updates to you now?

    3rd Edit:
    Nick,

I'm responding to what I feel is bterrik's hostile attitude towards this. He's laying the blame squarely on Ton's doorstep, when the true culprit is Janson's brother. :p

Well, the last bit's a joke, but the first two parts are true. Blame is definitely partly mine for asking him to update my stuff, partly that of everyone else for not doing the same, and partly Ton's for doing it.

And the use of the words "working with", neglect and "didn't feel like posting" imply to me that bterrik has no idea what the story is in this situation, and I am honestly unsure if he particularly cares. I am sure Ton would have been happy to update the entire corps of players, but none of you asked him to.

That said, as long as you guys get it all done in under the time we got, I have no objection whatsoever. Though if Umbara could be updated at the same time, I would like it. Tis going to take a loooooong time, and it would be nice if it were settled faster.

ooc: damn. missed a good bit there. well as for suspending the game. i totally agree with everyone there. i was able to take Helska through a number of PM's sent to Ton G. I still havent gotten an update from janson in a long time. actually i haven't had an update since i first took over Belkadan. bterrik: if your'e going to be the one to update than i will repost the PM i sent janson. i'm kind of hesitant just to the fact that i dont know you and am afraid that you do not know what is currently going on. That being said (not meaning to make hard feelings), if it is deemed OK by Ton than i will PM'em to you. ;)

    Important Notice:

    Hey everyone.

I feel like quite the idiot right now, and I?d like to thank everyone (especially Ton) for handling things as they?ve done. Apparently when I took my computer into is repaired on the weekend it didn?t get cleaned as well as I had hoped (don?t worry I slapped the first repairman I went too, and then I slapped my brother for getting me into this, just for you guys :D). When loading some of my programs the computer relapsed, and crashed. I took my computer to a different repairman, and he told me that my computer needed an entirely new Hard Drive.

As you can now see, the reliable repairman has fixed my computer. I must now reload every program on my computer for the second time in four days. That will take a few hours, and then I will finally be able to tackle Galactic Conquest head on. I will not stop until everyone currently engaged in the game has been sent a Daily Update. I?d like to thank everyone who initially sent me an Update earlier in the week; it will make my work much easier.

If you have any questions, or statements please do not hesitate to send me an angry PM, I will relay all comments to my brother, or the incompetent repairman if directed.

Lets show everyone why Galactic Conquest is the Best New Game in the RPF.

I thought it was obvious I was doing any updates that were asked of me... Perhaps I should have made it more clear. I tried to keep the game running while Janson was gone. If anyone believes my GMing to have been unfair, please PM me. Unfortunately the only people who did remain in contact were Octavulg, C_C, Dak, Kev anf jhc36. Not to mention I tried to give them as much trouble as possible, I don't think I let them have systems en mass.

Finally, bterrik, I in no way mean this to sound rebutitive; You have not been present for quite some time, and often I have been the only mod around for days. If anyone will speak to me, it will be Jasnon.

And by the way... I handled Tanaab.

Last Thing... if anyone wants to join Umbara, please do so. Players who are not there may insta-jump to Umbara. Players already engaged in the battle must use regular rules for jumping in.

The battle is in the north quadrant, and it is bloked off by interdictors, so one would have to enter into another quadrant and then join via sublight speed.
