Amph Game Of Thrones (uh i guess it's done now? Edit: No!)

My reaction to the Harpies flinging spears at Drogon:

 

Given that the Mad King's last words were "Burn Them All", that title could now apply to Stannis.

 

My reaction:
"Wait, aren't dragons supposed to have impenetrable skin?"

 

I was always indifferent towards Stannis and never quite understood the hype for him. But the one thing I did like, especially this season, was his relationship with Shireen.

And then last night happens. What the ****, dude?

 

The Screams of Shireen will get more iTunes downloads than The Rains of Castamere.

 

You'll all be feeling pretty foolish when the next episode opens with her sitting unharmed in the middle of a pile of ashes with three baby dragons on her shoulders.

 

That's pretty much how I think the books are going to end and the show has been less than subtle this season foreshadowing that. Emilia Clarke used to have some warmth to her and this entire season has all been her trying to show how tough she is.

If Dany gets the Iron Throne she will be the worst tyrant the seven kingdoms have ever had. I was pro-Stannis and I'm still thinking in the books he might have a more honorable ending. Now I guess I'm sort of pro-apocolypse ending. I could conceivably seeing Martin end the whole thing with the White Walkers killing everybody.

 

Last night we got to see a textbook case in character assassination.

 

My heart sank when the soldiers escorted Stannis' daughter out from the tent to through the soldiers looking onward. It's at that moment you know Shireen's fate was definite. It was perfectly set up from Stannis' reply to Shireen when she asked him if he loved her. I honestly wasn't fond of Stannis because his association with the witch and her influence over him.

Although Stannis showed his true colors last night, I still hope he take Winterfell. Ramsay Bolton needs to get his comeuppances.

I didn't know how many Sons of the Harpy existed, nor how determined they are to end Dany's reign. I hope Dany releases her other two dragons. My wife was worried that Drogon was going to die.

That bastard, John Snow is the last hope.

 

Stannis went from being an okay, if slightly misguided and in need of a hug, guy to being a terrible human being.

"I love you Shireen. Now, let me show you the stake we're going to burn you on. Ennnnnjoy!"

 

Maybe we'll luck out and Davos/Jon will just kill ALL of them. Probably not, but it's fun to hope.

Well now that Dany and Drogon are friends again, it should be real easy for her to fly to Mount Doom to destroy the One Ring.

 

I actually thought they were leaning SO HARD into the kid dying, she might as well been singing "We like being alive!" that there would be a twist and Stannis would ultimately kill the Red Woman and be the hero and save his daughter. Even when they lit the thing on fire. But, nope. Certainly memorable, if horrible.

Anyway.

 

Well, we still have another Kingly bastard out there in the person of Gend---

am i the only one not really all that pissed about shireen last night? i thought it was a really good episode.

the thing i thought that was disgusting and unnecessary was that homie in the brothel buying little girls. hoping the girl takes care of him real quick.

 

i was fine with the idea of stannous deciding to sacrifice her, but the execution was poor, all for a thinly veiled surprise as Shireen approaches the stake. & in a sick way i was a bit disgusted that the director/writers did not explicitly give us shireen's final moments, as if they themselves lacked the conviction to follow through with the decision they had made.

 

It just seemed like a complete 180 for Stannis. He loves his daughter and already tells Melisandre that he won't sacrifice her. I get it that he got to the point of desperation but I never got the sense that he would even consider it.
