Mini Series Garsa Fwip in The Book of Boba Fett

I can see a new series coming up, "Hostelry owners of the Galaxy", Garsa Fwip, Maz Kanata, Wuher, et al sit around and tell stories of their patrons throughout the years. I'd imagine some taking heads (from their regulars) to pop some relevant spin on it too, Death-stick dude, Modal Nodes and of course Max with his funky beats!

Extended scenes of the last episode were filmed in her former business, and no one even mentioned her. Come on, writers, give us something!

I was hoping we might at least see her Twi'lek servers joining the defenders. Just a quick glimpse of them holding blasters and looking angry would have been better than what we got. Which was nothing.

That's the big third season twist, Max Rebo IS the underworld.

 

They didn’t show a body! She’s next in line in the bacta and mod queue.

See, this is the kind of crazy fun **** I expected from Rodriguez. Honestly, it’s the kind of stuff they should’ve done. Make this an insane Mad Max Rebo world, not a Disney playground. The internet would have exploded.

 

As I suggested in the finale thread, the wrong Twi'lek was apparently killed off. Of course Garsa Fwip was a likeable character. Jennifer Biels brought her charm to the role; despite it being a minor one. Of course the annoying majordomo, who no one liked, appeared in far more scenes than anyone would've liked. He reminded me of Jar Jar without the Gungan dialect. I guess every show needs its "comic relief".

 

Star Wars - A Love Story - Garsa Fwip meets The Grand Inquisitor, glowing sparks fly and they are married by Obi-Wan Kenobi and witnessed by Yoda and Anakin. As a major cameo, Quigon walks Fwip down the aisle.

I am going to go on record to say I like him, I thought him and The Mechanic were hilarious together.

 

To each, their own. I do like Peli Motto though.

 

She should've had a funeral so Maz Kanata, Wuher and Dexter Jettster could pay their respects!!!

Every time I see her name I think it's an anagram of something dirty.

 

Have I mentioned how disappointed I am that they killed her off too soon and wasted all the story potential she had? Well, I'm mentioning it again anyway. Cuz they killed her off too soon and wasted her story potential and I'm not happy about it.

 

It wouldn't have been too soon if they hadn't wasted her story potential.

 

Hmmm.... actually, it would.

 

So much potential lost, she could've been the next Moe Szyslak...

 

I agree on the wasted potential...but on a more serious note I only remember her in 3 scenes. Giving Boba and Fennec helmets full of credits, trying to talk down Krrsantan and getting blowed up.

If she was supposed to be the 'Rick in Casablanca' type then it would have made sense (to me at least) to have her more involved in the story as a source of information for Boba. As I said elsewhere this would have worked better as a more traditional western with Boba seeking revenge/justice for the Tuskens. Garsa would should have been protrayed as more of a civic leader who urges other people to keep the peace because if they push back against the families they will get beaten, killed, etc... but she does have all the information on who's who and what's what in Mos Espa and the surrounding area and shares that with Boba and crew.

 

People feel like she was under-utilized because she was one of the few characters with well defined and believable personality traits. If the main characters were better written we would be ok with what we got with her, and her minor role would feel less of a waste.

Still, I do think that more could have been done with her. For example:
1) Set some of the plot-driving scene inside her Cantina.
2) Use her better for exposition. Take for example the Hutts scene. She told him about the Hutts, but then the Hutts appeared immediately after. Her scene was not needed because we could have gotten all the information from the Hutts themselves.
3) Make her more relevant to the story. Boba is getting money from her through extortion. Is there anything more that can be said about it? Does she need any help from him for her business? Is she ok with paying him? Does she have personal enemies ? The only scene that meant anything in her Cantina was when they blow it up.

 

The galaxy isn't big enough to two cantinas...is Maz really the dark lord that was behind everything?
