(GC) Resident Evil 4: Too Hard to Be Fun?

I'm interested in getting this game. I've seen great reviews for it and it's been a while since I went out and bought a game. The only concerns I have is that I've never played a Resident Evil game before and I notice that Gamestop.com's review mentions that this is a Hard game.

What do you guys think? Should I go for it, or should I try out something like Baten Kaitos?

 

It's a great game. You don't need to have played the other RE games (but it can't hurt, as they're all good).

 

Err... yeah, it's hard.
Which means it'll take you longer to complete.
Which is a good thing.

Also, Resident Evil 4 is nothing like the other Resident Evil games, but it is at least as awesome as all of them put together.

 

Well, I got it. So far I'm having fun. It just took a while to get used to the game mechanics and to realize that head-shots don't grant instant kills.

 

And later on, you'll likely find out that some head shots will make things even worse.

 

Whether or not you shoot a Palagas infested in the head or not is redundant, their heads explode whether you shoot them in the head, make them explode or accidentally knock them in the leg with a knife.

Also, Plagas Infested enemies have to be the easiest things in the game to defeat.

 

Are these Plagas things like Flood creatures from Halo?

 

If the Flood exist as Spores, and then grow inside a hosts body and then pop out and grow big swooshy blades. Then yes.

Difficulty aside, it's a freakin' awesome game. I'm considering getting it for Wii even though I have it for GC because I've heard it's that much better, which seems hard for me to believe, because that game is great to begin with.

 

I found most RE games too hard to be fun.

I find the gameplay far to slow as well. If it were more like quake or doom, then w00t but then again it wouldnt be a renoun game series if it was.

 

Go ahead and get the Wii version. If you are running component cables you do get the 480p resolution and true widescreen. Also, the Wii version has all the extras from the PS2 version.

Oh, and the Wii version supports PS2 controls (through the classic controller) and original GCN controls (through a GCN pad)

 

Alright, after I get Mario Party 8 and have $30 to blow, I'll get it.

 

It's only hard if you go up against a number of the latter bosses without a magnum.
