Personally, I have no idea what Lucas' specific personal beliefs are on those types of issues. He doesn't strike me as the type to be particularly public about that sort of thing.

What I guess I don't understand is why it should matter to anyone whether Lucas is part of George Bush's peanut gallery or not. I mean, is the Hoth battle from ESB any less cool to you if Lucas doesn't agree with Bush's policies? Should Yoda's training speeches be any less cool to me if Lucas doesn't smoke grass? ;)

I just don't want Lucas (my favorite celebrity of all time :)) to be one of those celebrities that criticize Bush on everything he says and does.

Basically, I hope he isn't on the extreme left. [face_thinking]

Extreme left or right is not a good thing. [face_shame_on_you]

Well... has Lucas got a track record of publicly criticizing Bush "on everything he does"? I mean, other than including a line in ROTS which is similar to one which Bush said awhile back (and which, by the way, is an unthinkably stupid thing for a president to say no matter who he is or what party he belongs to) what even vaguely political statements has Lucas made recently? Or ever, really? If he's made any public political stand that would put him in a league with the likes of entertainers like Jane Fonda or Ann Coulter, I've certainly never heard about it.

I think the guy probably tends to vote Democrat, yeah, but I don't think you really have to worry about him coming out publicly as a political extremist. He generally seems to keep to himself as far as things like that go.

George Lucas is too smart to be openly political. He attracted a huge following with SW and expressing his views (right or left) would undoubtably alienate about half his fan base.

    Warrior_of_Mandalore Strikes Again!

My guess is, he's probably like a lot of the country... more conservative views on some things, more liberal views on others. He doesn't strike me as the kind of guy who goes to extremes in anything other than CGI use. ;)

how do you figure? if this thread is allowed, then Lucas' personal beliefs are applicable

if a neo-nazi made a film that had political intonations, wouldn't the film maker's personal beliefs be relevent?

Is George Bush making a movie?......Just kidding!
Lucas made a movie about politics that some say are relevent to the current situation. He has not made a movie about homosexuality or abortion. At least not yet.. Though perhalps the issues will be explored in the upcoming TV show. ....Kidding again.
How many quotes can you quote like this, before it gets silly. apparently it only works so many times

That's good... he'd look like a goof if he shaved his head and started strutting around humming Wagner tunes all damned day. ;)

Lucas sure is less vocal about his personal beliefs than most other people in Hollywood. [face_thinking]

If he is a liberal, I think he would be a very moderate one. I used to think he was a conservative at heart, and he may be for all we know. He seems to care a lot about family values, and I don't think he is anti-military, I find it difficult to think that he would make a movie with "War" as the main part of the title if he was. I'm sure he gets raked over the coals at tax time, so I doubt he's a big fan of higher taxes.

I dissagree. Making a movie with war in it dosen't mean your anymore supportive of a War then you are of blowing up planets. As for taxes, Yes republicans like giving the wealthy tax breaks, but I don't think Lucas would mind paying taxes if he believed they were going tward Liberal causes that help everyone. He supports and works with a lot of children's charities. I have personaly worked at some of the events.
Look at the way he has portrayed politicians. The conservative ones are Ultra-conservative, greedy, corrupt, and even Nasi like. On the other hand the Liberal politicians are portrayed as powerless even pawns.
The more I think about it the more I think he is more discusted by politics then taking sides.
