I heard that the DVD of ROTS will have an additional 30 minutes of footage added to it.

"Does Lucas truly think that Revenge of the Sith has no place for Jar Jar Binks? "

    No way, no how.

He goes with the "popularity" as he did with the Fett family and Jar-Jar Binks.

I and II are about the events, of which Jar Jar played some import.
III is Anakin's film. What place really does JJ have in it?
What more was their to do? Have we not explored that character ad naseum?

When I see ROTS, I never think about Jar Jar's absence for a second. I believe that's a sure sign that he has no place in this film. It's not about him.
In TPM, part of the story was about him. In AOTC, a very small part of the story was about him. In ROTS, no part of the story is about him.

Popularity has nothing to do with it.

Jar Jar is who he is

Jar Jar still has one line in the film. When he bumps into the Twi'lek Senator, I believe. He says, "Sorry." There wasn't much need for Jar Jar in this story. His main arc was in TPM and it surrounded the whole theme of symbiosis. In AOTC, his appearence was to keep consistant the new status quo from TPM. The story worked itself out so that Jar Jar would have a part, but not as large as before. By ROTS, there wasn't a need for the Gungan other than to continue his part in the status quo from the last two films. The cameo by Boss Nass during the funeral, is very telling of that. Padme brought two races together and that bond is still strong thirteen years later.

And let us note, that Threepio's role is very small in this film. With far fewer lines and practically no humor. Artoo got the majority of it and that was in the first half hour.

Only at my 4th viewing I realized Jar Jar was actually there in the Senate (after the Jedi purge). Thought that was interesting. No matter what Lucas was in no way wussing out, otherwise he could have skipped Jar Jar altogether. Really, there was no role for him, but he's there.

Lucas got so many death threats from crazed fans, like some in here. That after a while he was afraid of his life!!! And didnt want to risk upseting those insane immature fans that hate Jar Jar. So its understandable.

I didn't mind Jar Jar's absence but if he was going to be in Episdoe 3 I'd have loved for Vader to kill him as a symbolic representation of the death of the Republic's innocence.

He was in TPM so much because he was crucial to the story. He was the reason Obi Wan and Qui Gon were able to make it to Theed as quick as they did and was instrumental in leading them to the Gungans so that they're plan would work. Annoying as he was, he had a reason for being there.

In AOTC he's just a Naboo dilpomat and has no reason to be part of the new story. Same thing with Revenge of the Sith. And I;m glad they didn't kill him off because now I get to in my movie. Well I'm just going to have his remains being scraped off the hull of a cruiser in a hanger bay, roadkill style in a panning establishing shot of a much larger scene but still. I thank GL for opportunities like that. Now fans like us get to kill him in a variety of creative ways in our fan fiction.

Go George, go George, oh yeah!!!

It's not called wussing out, it's called: actually doing something right for a change.

Jar Jar is perhaps the most annoying character ever. At least the ewoks couldn't Content removed speak.

Does Lucas truly think that Revenge of the Sith has no place for Jar Jar Binks?

So it would seem. At last, I`ll be able to give the Fast Forward button a break while watching a PT movie after it`s released on DVD.

I don't think that Lucas wussed out, so to speak, but I think that Jar-Jar Binks just wasn't needed for ROTS. I mean, he had him in TPM to be set up like a patsy. He was supposed to be in there to be the dummy, so that in AOTC he could make the Suggestion in the senate.

No idiot to take the fall = no one to be suckered in to giving special powers to Palpatine.

What was there for him to do after that?

    Gentleman:

I am a jar Jar hater. always have been. Always will be. And as such, I cannot agree that he is relevant to TPM or AOTC. As this discussion has already been performed ad nauseum (I include me in the nauseum part), I will not repeat it.

However, as such, I believe that Lucas recognized this and cut him out completely in ROTS. Jar Jar was never a relevant character to the saga. If he was, surely his character arc would have been completed. In fact, we only see jar Jar twice in AOTC.

I share in the joy of millions of SW fans and nonfans who relished in his lack of screen time. Unlike AOTC, I did not dread the fact that he was about to appear, talk or stumble for comic relief. That was performed admirably by R2 and 3p0...and to a certain extent obi wan.

My hatred of Jar-Jar runs so deep that when he appeared on screen for his ten seconds of fame, I actually got sick to my stomach. The excitement of the fantastic opening sequence became a blur. All I could think was: "NO! NO! NO, NOT AGAIN!"

It took me ten minutes to recover, or until I noticed that the Hayden/Portman scene was actually not too bad.

I wanted to see Jar Jar's head be choped off by Palpatine.

Little kids in the audience would be crying!

I would be laughing my head off.
