The difference being that Trump didn’t achieve anything.

You clearly are not in the know about his achievements, and aren't up on the world of QANON. Prominent Democrats and liberal celebrities are colluding for a massive satanic deep state conspiracy to molest children, and Trump has staved them off, heroically fighting these wicked pedos tooth and nail throughout his administration. Millions of Americans believe this is happening, so it must be true, right?

But let's not forget his helpful suggestions (he seriously made these):
    1) Inject yourself with bleach to cure Covid.
    2) Fire a nuclear bomb into a hurricane to stop it

The man obviously has some real "achievements"

This is crazy. Wonder Woman was a $200 million movie production, and it being released straight to HBO streaming rather than saving it for 2021 to make the big money in theaters.

They are trying to get a bunch of new HBO subscribers with the movie. Kind of makes Disney look like cheap shysters for charging crazy money for Mulan over and above the streaming service; HBO subscribers don't have to pay to watch.

The gap between cinema and streaming continues to disintegrate.......

What makes you think theaters will open in 2021? And people will still want to go to theaters...

Loss of theaters is definitely an issue, and there are many other issues and challenges.

But with vaccine technology coming along the way it is, there is a good chance we can get back to movies by spring to summer of 2021.

Nothing is for sure, but it looks at least hopeful for next year right now. I certainly wouldn't go to a movie theater where I live right now; but I would predict there will be a movie scene again in theaters in 2021.

Full scale vaccination will take a while and that's if majority of people will actually want to get vaccinated. And no vaccine so far is 100% effective, so masks and social distancing will probably have to stay for foreseeable future. Which will cause new problems, as vaccinated people will probably be hard to convince to keep following the rules despite being vaccinated.

I wouldn't be too optimistic about 2021. Not to mention that the full economic impact of this pandemic will hit us next year.

No, not 100%, but so far they are 95% effective, and will go out to healthcare workers before the end of the year. They only need about 70% total between vaccination and previous infection for herd immunity.

Don't sound so glum and hopeless! Geez, I thought I had a dark disposition, listen to you..

If society as a whole doesn't sink during the winter surge, we will be in decent shape to make a comeback to normal life by spring or summer depending on where you are. They already have large amount of vaccinations manufactured, it will take a a series of months to get it distributed. By then, virus cases and vaccinations likely will be high enough to move on.

Its not about being glum, but its important to keep our expectations realistic ;) If it turns out as you say, great, if not, we should be ready.

If you look at the recent developments on vaccines, it actually is pretty realistic to think in terms of life getting better by spring/summer. I said what you are saying for quite a while, but there is strong evidence that science will bail us out; I'm more hopeful now. The first vaccines will be sent out in a few weeks for the first group to get vaccinated.

No vaccines in general are 100% effective. The existing flu vaccine sits around 80+% effective. So if the current ones in development are striking the 90-95% effective range? And are then distributed widely enough during 2021? Social distancing and mask-wearing might remain in one form or another for a bit, but eventually, things will likely go back to normal.

Until the next pandemic, that is, which is becoming more and more likely with rapid ecological and climate change, and the high likelihood of the weaponization of new viruses.

One of the vaccines being lauded apparently comes with godless side effects that can leave the person bedridden for a day or two. After only the FIRST of TWO shots. I imagine there will be a sizable number of people who get the initial shot, have the life beaten out of them, and do not bother with subjecting themselves to round 2.

The idea that science is even capable of creating something like the coronavirus is pretty much hoax and paranoia, aside from the possibility of blind luck. They could create a virus much more deadly, but not with the same kind of contagiousness, which is really what sets the corona apart from everything else. There is no known way to create that. Naturally occurring viruses are another matter, and we may be headed toward another one eventually with our destruction of nature. Wouldn't that suck to have another corona situation?

Polling shows people are warming to the idea of getting vaccinated more recently since the vaccines have been shown to be effective and have no serious adverse effects.. I think that trend will continue given the deadly winter we are in. Right now, Covid is heading towards being the #1 killer in the US each day. Cancer and heart disease each kill about 2300 people per day, which Covid is just about to hit (we recently hit 2100 in a day, may get that high today).

All I want is to get my shot so I can safely go see Dune in a nice theater in 2021, that's all I want from my life....

It it’s been confirmed that Covid was responsible, it would be odd for other news outlets not to mention it.

Looks like it's not just Wonder Woman- Dune and all of the other Warner Bros. movies for all of 2021 will be released on HBO streaming simultaneously with their (limited) theater release. I wonder how many theaters will be left standing after all of this?

Oh well, I'm glad that at least I'll get to see Dune if I am still not able to go to a theater when it roles around. Current release date is October 2021, so hopefully by that time Covid will have winded down and I can just go to a theater.

All of Warner Bros.' theatrical movies will get simultaneous releases on HBO Max next year (yahoo.com)
