Another great set, ginchy. Sorry I wasn't here for the last one.

I enjoyed how you also touched on a number of couples here. The two that touched me the most were Snow and Wind. There was an honesty in those final two. They were quiet moments of true intimacy.

Marvelous. Each drabble highlighted a feature of the climate but also of what the person must be feeling--i.e., Padme all sunny, Winter cool and distant because of the memories; Leia trying not to be warm and welcoming LOL Wind was a sweet seldom seen Beru/Owen moment. He tries to be gruff like the wind but can't quite hide how he likes her :) Rain--Mara's just looking for a reason NOT to leave :D [face_dancing] And LUke running a finger down the glass--baby. Stroke me baby!!!! [face_laugh] [face_laugh]

    [face_mischief]

Beautiful work as always, but I must admit that this was my favorite:

    Wind

They finally had a moment alone, standing near Owen?s speeder in the weak light of the setting suns. Beru smiled at him before dipping her eyes, wondering what he thought of spending time with her family as a first date.

She glanced up again to see him looking towards the west, towards the Sand-People?s territory. Small winds whipped up brown sands, but otherwise, all was quiet.

Turning her eyes back to him, she found his gaze settled on her, and her stomach clenched.

?Today was nice,? he said, gruff voice softer than usual.

?Yes,? Beru agreed. ?It was very nice.?

    Week 12:

I'm am really, really enjoying all your Mara drabbles!! You make her so human and so...real with every set. I'm in awe, gal!

Loved this: ?Trust me,? she hissed, ?I?m no star. More like a black hole.?

    Good one! :D

    Week 13:

    Rain = perfection. Seriously. =D=

They were all wonderful! [:D] Didn't see no wall. ;)

[face_thinking]*ponders the meaning of A Flicked Switch* hmm... sudden change in feelings, maybe?

This set of drabbles seems more eclectic than your usual more linear fare, but I'm liking the mix. "Wind" is my favourite. Teenage Owen and Beru are so sweet, and we don't get to see a lot of them. "Rain" comes in second place for me for its fantastic, nuanced characterization of Luke and Mara.

    Rain

?This is going to cost you extra, Skywalker,? Mara said, looking out at the torrential rain.

?Can I start a tab?? he asked wryly.

    ?No.?

?Cute.? He left his desk chair to lean against his office window. ?I?m sorry you were rained in, but I did warn you that it was the rainy season??

Mara came to stand across from him, glaring. ?I can land in any conditions.?

?Just can?t take off?? His words contained no heat, though, as he traced one finger over a droplet of rain running down the glass.

?Yeah,? she said, watching him. ?Something like that.?

My favorite! [face_love] These were as awesome, as always! =D= Your work is always such a treat to read- it never fails to be amazing! You spoil us! :p Absolutely wonderful!! [:D]@};-

These were all wonderful (of course!), but Rain was perfect in its subtlety. I like how they come from the woman's perspective.

    Beautifully done!

They were all great, ginchy, but for some reason, I think I liked the Anakin/Padme one best. Maybe PonyTrick's latest story is influencing me.

Overcast made me smile... how far she's come that she end's up not only wanting him around, but also liking the fact that he is.

They were all good, though. :)

You all really know how to make a gal feel better. [:D] Thanks for your kind comments on last week?s drabbles! I felt the wall there, but maybe it was there to make me push harder.

path-seeker: Thank you! That Winter/Tycho one just snuck up on me. I really like the moment it sets.

    earlybird-obi-wan: Thanks so much! :D

Mira_Jade: Thank you! What a lovely compliment. I?m glad you enjoyed these falling in love moments. Whenever I write them, I always think of a comment by Gillian Anderson where she said the most exciting moments in a romance are the moments before the first touch.

kataja: Thanks, K! I?m glad you saw the ?young love? parallels for H/L and A/P. I was going for that. And I?m so pleased you liked the quiet moment in rain. But you PERFECTLY stated what I was trying to impart in Snow. I?m so glad you enjoyed this set!

brodiew: Thanks, Brodie! I agree with you on ?Snow? and ?Wind?-there is something in them that sets them apart from the other three. I?m glad you could see it, too!

Jade_eyes: LOL, girl, you crack me up! But I?m with you. Luke can place his hands on me, anytime. ;) I think you?re right about Mara, too?. Who wants to leave a warm Jedi Master and go out into the rain?! Thank you!!

VaderLVR64: Thanks! It was fun to write a young O/B. :D

Jade_Pilot: Thanks, gal! I think the changes were just what was needed. That original A/P and L/M just weren?t working!

BigFatty: Thank you! It?s funny because whenever I feel like something I?ve written is not so great, readers really dig it. Sadly, the opposite appears to be true, too. LOL!

Jedi Trace: Girl, that is a compliment of the highest order! You?ve made me a grinning fool. THANK you! I really am trying to branch out with Mara, and I?m glad it seems to be working.

Ubersue: Thank you! Yes, ?Flicked Switch?, to me, meant a realization of feelings that weren?t there or as noticeable before. And I?m glad you noticed I?d branched out from the linear drabbles?I was starting to think all my drabbles read the same!

    dancing_star: You?re so sweet. Thank you! :D

divapilot: Thanks, lady! I?m so glad ?Rain? went over well. I agonized over that one for a week and then dumped the one I had and wrote this one in about two minutes. I think that was the right choice.

Jedi-2B: LOL, thanks! I know, I?m shocked at the amount of A/P I?ve written here. PT has a new story? I?ll have to look that up!

DaenaBenjen42: Thank you! Yes, I love that early spatty H/L. [face_love]

KELIA: Thank you! It?s been fun to explore Uncle Owen in these drabbles.

JEDIFLYSWATTER: That is so very true. Nature will always win. Thank you!!

JadeLotus: Thanks, gal! I?m trying to open myself up to new characters and emotions with these drabbles. I?m so glad you?re enjoying the ride!

This week's set has not been beta'd as my wonderful beta, Jade_Pilot is suffering from DRL. It seems there's been more than enough DRL to go around this year, so I'm hoping next year will be far more peaceful. In any case, this set is another hodgepodge sort of set, and any mistakes are only mine. Thanks, everyone, for reading! [:D]

    Week 14: More Hodgepodge

    Allies

“Mara! Mara Jade! Have you chosen a gown?”

“Leia, what do you think of your brother marrying the former Emperor’s Hand?”

“How did you and Luke go from being mere allies to lovers, Mara?”

Blinking in the bright light of dozens of holocams, Mara and Leia rushed from the back entrance of the bridal designer’s warehouse.

    “Ignore them,” Leia muttered.

“I always do,” Mara said. “Even if I’d rather vape them all.”

“That would make the wedding far more peaceful,” Leia mused.

Mara turned to her with a sly grin. “I knew I had a good reason for liking you.”

    Enemies

“Do you ever wonder why it took us so long to realize we loved one another?” Luke asked idly, caressing Mara’s back.

Mara kissed his chest. “No. It happened and that’s good enough for me.”

“But don’t you ever wish we’d gotten together sooner?”

“By ‘getting together’ you mean…” Mara trailed off and leaned in to kiss him suggestively.

"Well, partially,” he said after she pulled back.

“It would’ve put a new spin on ‘keeping your enemies closer’…”

Luke framed her face in his hands. “You were never my enemy.”

Mara smiled wanly. “I wish I could say the same.”

    Spies

“Did you open a toy store and forget to tell me?” Han asked, looking around at the mound of toys waiting to be wrapped for Midwinter Festival.

“It’s not that many,” Leia protested. “Besides, we have three children. Divide this up and--”

“—and it’s still a lot,” he cut in. “Have they been good enough for all this loot?”

“Han Solo. Our children are very good—wait,” she said, cutting herself off this time. She motioned to the hall with her eyes. “Two spies,” she mouthed.

Han grinned. “I’ll just go put those good kids back to bed.”

    Smuggler

Ben bounced on his bed. “Tell me a story, dad!”

“Not until you lie down,” Luke said.

“Okay!” Ben fell backwards onto his pillow, and looked at his father with eyes that were still far too wide open.

Luke smiled. “Once upon a time there was a Jedi--”

    “A smuggler,” Ben interrupted.

“You’ve been listening to your mother’s stories,” Luke commented. “Okay. Once upon a time there was a smuggler--”

    “What was his name?”

    “…Hansel.”

    “Uncle Hansel,” Ben sniggered.

Luke choked back a laugh and leaned in conspiratorially. “Please call him that the next time we see him.”

    Traitor

“And when you grow up, you’ll be the prettiest, smartest girl, and the best pilot…”

“That goes without saying, kid,” Han said, looking at his baby daughter in her uncle’s arms.

“Yeah,” Luke agreed. “She’ll get the good piloting genes from her Skywalker side.”

“So long as she doesn’t inherit a desire to take over the galaxy,” Han replied.

“Ha-ha,” Luke said, but sounded slightly amused. “Well—oh.” He wrinkled his nose. “Here, daddy!” he said brightly, passing the baby off. “I just remembered something I have to do.”

Han caught a whiff and glared at Luke’s retreating back. “Traitor.”

    Traitor

?And when you grow up, you?ll be the prettiest, smartest girl, and the best pilot??

?That goes without saying, kid,? Han said, looking at his baby daughter in her uncle?s arms.

?Yeah,? Luke agreed. ?She?ll get the good piloting genes from her Skywalker side.?

?So long as she doesn?t inherit a desire to take over the galaxy,? Han replied.

?Ha-ha,? Luke said, but sounded slightly amused. ?Well?oh.? He wrinkled his nose. ?Here, daddy!? he said brightly, passing the baby off. ?I just remembered something I have to do.?

Han caught a whiff and glared at Luke?s retreating back. ?Traitor.?

The first three had me smiling, especially Leia and Mara's comments about the reporters. The image of Ben bouncing around on the bed in Smuggler and the fact that he switched 'jedi' to 'smuggler' made me laugh, and 'Uncle Hansel' just made it perfect. Traitor was great too. [face_laugh]
