ST Grand Admiral Ackbar

i wonder how many other OT characters are going to pop in the ST. besides the OT3 and Chewie and the droids.

 

with the news that admiral ackbar is in fact in TFA, how do you think he will be used in TFA?

it wasnt confirmed a year ago?
this was to speak about his relevance to TFA since hes only just been confirmed to be in it. i also wasnt aware of a feed specifically for him.

I wonder if his species age the same way as humans or are they more like Wookies or Yoda even... Speaking of Yoda - 900 years old...is that like dog years or ACTUAL years? (Sorry - Not intending to derail)

Not sure how long Yoda's species live but I was always under the impression that Yoda used the Force to augment his age.

Yeah, I thought it was because of his race. In fact...
"Master Yoda, you can't die."
"Strong am I with the Force, but not that strong."
... implies that the Force has nothing to do with it, and even if he wanted to extend his life using the Force he wouldn't be able to.

 

His dialogue with Luke implies it in my opinion. To me it implies that he's strong enough to live longer than normal but not strong enough to live forever.
Luke: "Master Yoda, you can't die."
Yoda: "Strong am I with the Force, but not that strong."

 

So we both quoted the same dialogue to support opposing views on that. Interesting.

 

yoda is super old when we meet him in ep 1. it's his race not the force.

 

It could just as easily be because of the Force. No proof leaning either way. But Jedi are wizards and wizards live long lives do to their magic. And the stronger the wizard the longer they live. I view it the same way with Jedi. Plus like I said the dialogue between him and Luke leads me in a different direction. If they ever tackle this issue in the new canon then I'll go with whatever they decide. Until then I believe it's possible for Jedi to extend their lives through the Force.

 

they already have tackled those issues. the jedi don't use the force to prolong life. the sith do. that's what plagueis did. the jedi accept death when it comes. yoda would never manipulate the force to prolong his life. it's wrong.

 

Didn't say anything about Jedi manipulating it. Simply using the Force can prolong life, and the stronger the user the longer the life. It's something natural with using the Force. The Sith take this natural byproduct of using the Force and then twist it in order to live even longer than what would be an otherwise natural lifespan for a Force user. Wouldn't be breaking the rules at all.

 

yoda's just old dude.

 

900 is old no matter how you get there.
