also in my opinion the vast interstate/mountainous regions or whatever sounds really awesome. it will probably only be used for high speed chases and stuff like that though. does anyone know if the cars will need to be refueled?

For the record, all I did was copy and paste what was posted over at PS2.ign.com. I didn't change or add anything. So if there were mistakes, go and complain to them, not me.

I so hope you can swim in the game. The numerous times your car goes out of control and goes into the water, and you die. Or the first time you play and you think you can swim (at least I did), but you can't.

You'd think a badarse would know how to swim.

Swimming was added because Rockstar knew about the constant request and was tired of being told it couldn?t be done. Now when you drive off a bridge, you will not drown. But that being said, it is not a swimming game. The way swimming will work is this: When your car hits the water you have two choices. The first is to climb out the window of the car. If you choose not to get out, you will sink with the car, and you will have a certain amount of stamina which you can build up. There are some missions that have swimming in them, but this won?t be a swimming action adventure game. The feature is there for playability.

 

they can fit all of this stuff on one dual layer dvd !!! ? , and ps2 is capaple handling all of this ?
I wouldnt even expect x-box to be able to accomplish soo much . and 4 players at one time ? thats beyond ps2 technology , i saw rendering problems in VC , so its hard to belevie that ps2 can render textures for 4 players at the same time . it sounds great , but i think at the end we will get a watered down version if this game . and i have no clue why they signed the ( you have to wait 15 months until releasing GTA games to other consoles ) contract . microsoft would have tripled the amount ( 75 million ) for a blockbuster game which will probably sell 1 1/2 to 2 million copies in the first week .

I don't believe the PS2 can handle this. The Xbox even has some slow ups on GTA3 and Vice City.

Hmm thats confused me too Scott, I dont belieev in ANY of the material about the game theres been mention of 4 players...care to post proof of that comet?

 

I dont feel like looking through , but in an earlier post in this thread it said that drive-by missions could be played with 4 players , which i think wont happen along with alot of other promises they are making about the game .

 

It ment you hire gang members and im assuming they will Fire out of the car the same direction you do, therfor a 4 ( or 1 person, 3 bots ) drive by

Keep in mind that when that contract was executed (late 2001 if I remember correctly), X-Box was at the bottom of the game system food chain in regards to overall popularity, and PS2 reigned supreme.

 

There is no confirmed multiplayer in SA (although that would be amazing). The four-person drive-by you speak of is just that, a four-person drive-by. CJ drives the car, while his gang shoots. You have no direct control over them.

There's strong rumors flying around that Don Salvatore will be in SA. This was posted on the website (frankvincent.com) of the actor who voiced Salvatore in GTA3.

"Look forward to Frank lending his voice once again as Don Salvatore Leone in the sequel to Rock Star's Grand Theft Auto III."

An interesting thing to note about the Salvatore rumour is that on frankvincent.com it states that Salvatore will be back for a sequel to GTA3. This is kind of contradictory in two ways. Firstly, SA takes place before GTA3. Secondly, Salvatore is killed in GTA3.

 

well some people do get confused between sequel and prequel you know

I mean I remember hearing someone ask, when watching TPM, why Luke was so young and how come Leia was Queen of a different planet

... they really messed up when they signed that contract , so much money is now out of their reach . they lost my 50 $ since developers get more share out game sales on x-box than p2s . ...

I will only port it for GC if the demand for it is enough that I will make major green . and then it will be 85 $ , but thats worth it , they will never make GTA for GC , the fanbase of GC is 5-12 and GTA is 17-21 .
