It appears that March for Our Lives is organizing marches for June 11. I already told my husband to pencil in my absence from the house. That's the day of the Pride Parade in DC, that's why I said pencil. They might have to chose another date. Even if both are going on simultaneously, I'll be there. Couldn't keep me away.
On Thursday, the news site Axios published a list of the leading recipients of gun lobby donations in the current Congress. Cruz was clear at the top, with $442,000 donated to campaign organisations or political action committees. Axios noted: “The figures are much higher if you count indirect contributions, like the NRA’s purchase of attack ads against opponents.”
Wasn’t the NRA in a huge heel of trouble just last year for money laundering or something? Or did I dream that. I do remember that Don Jr wanted to run for NRA prez at one point lol.
Like I said above, if the Right keeps bringing up mental health as the only thing to focus on regarding these mass shootings, THAT is a problem.
It's not even that..it's equating being a piece of **** with "mental health issues" that's the problem with that cartoon.
Yes, like I said, I get what the artist was trying to get across... but doing so in a way that insinuates a bad person is mentally ill misses the mark.
Well if they actually cared they wouldn’t be designing society to crush people under as much despair as humanly possible. Though it’s all smoke in mirrors so people talk about things other than the guns. I believe that @Darth Guy posted the link that showed the real risk of mental illness and guns is self harm and not mass shooting.
Going to be interesting to see Texas law enforcement that was on site falling all over themselves to shift blame or try to look like heroes with this. Who is going to be the scape goat left holding responsibility. They’ll probably blame it on the school. Or if there was a lone security guard it’s their fault.
They'll blame it on whoever didn't lock that door. Then mental illness. Then Trans/Immigrant/Illegal Aliens Then his parents Then Biden But never themselves. Never the party of personal responsibility.
All that they're good for: posing I've been wondering if there's a racist element in all of this. All the pictures I've seen of the kids, almost all of them look to be of Latino descent. Maybe the powers that be decided it wasn't worth risking their lives for a bunch of brown kids? I mean why was there a border patrol unit there?
I'm not seeing much indication that they would otherwise be running in on these situations all that consistently
What I find interesting that they had to call in Border Patrol to assist the local law enforcement to deal with the shooter. If you believed the Right and media, the borders right now have been overflowing with people from Latin America; so much so that Border Patrol would have their hands full dealing with them.
Yeah, and I saw on Twitter that the Right has a conspiracy ready for that exact question. Border Patrol was chasing the shooter, who's a criminal from El Salvador, who crossed the border illegally shortly before. Which is bat **** insane. But par for the course,
Very interesting mess of accounts about what happened. I think a lot more will be revealed. https://www.yahoo.com/news/texas-po...esponse-as-more-details-emerge-195618293.html
Fox news solutions You can listen to the various paid liars but here's the list: Armed security guard Armed school safety officer Armed deputy Armed teachers Armed administrators Armed school staffers Policemen Train the students themselves Retired military Retired law enforcement Tax breaks Martial law Secure the perimeter Provide a “ring of steel” Better fences Higher fences Locked doors Bulletproof glass Judeo-Christian values Make attacking a school a death sentence School snitches Stop letting schools be gun-free zones Put your phone down Divert coronavirus relief funds Send your child to private school Take your children to church Fight this “anti-police narrative” Series of interlocking doors Tripwire Trap the shooter like a rat God Address moral rot Decrease social media exposure Focus on mental health Pray Faith and prayer Make schools more like airports Don’t be triggered Assault rifles Enhanced body armor Notification system Single point of entry Don’t talk about the shooting Raise your children properly Ballistic blankets Give police more resources Executive Order for mental health facilities Return to God Arm yourself everywhere
Of course something could theoretically be done. But Manchin is against this and won't change his mind, and so are all Republicans, so it's dead. They're already doubling-down. No, this won't change minds in DC.
Blaming “anti police rhetoric” has vibes of Jack Nicholson in A Few Good Men. “You have to ask me nicely.” Can I refuse to do my job when people aren’t nice to educators? Can health care workers refuse to treat patients who Googlesplain or QAnonsplain what their treatment must be? And yeah, any legislation is dead, and Republicans and right wing Democrats will whine that people are being “divisive” and…wait for it…mean by giving their “sincerely held thoughts and prayers” the mockery they deserve.
