The Church shooting the other day was done by some deranged Anti-Semite who apparently had a grudge on her Jewish husband and his family; complete with the "Palestine" sticker on her gun. What any of that has to do with shooting civilians in a Church G-d only knows.
I've been watching the live press conference with the mayor and Chief of Police there in KC, and one journalist asked as to how come the shooter was able to get off so many rounds to injure so many people while they had around 800 cops on site. I could be wrong, but I wouldn't be surprised if that's coming from a Right wing rag who wants to shift the blame from the gun violence to the cops' actions.
Just FYI it looks like there were two different incidents. Some people near the garage argued and shot at each other. THEN another guy was spotted with an AR-15 type gun in a backpack, supposedly near people who'd been shot. This second guy was tackled by some citizens as he tried to run away. Saw the video of his AR-15 coming out of his backpack. One killed, 22 gunshot videos including children. I hate America.
But in reality, you know as well as I do that that's not what they're saying right now. I know them like the back of my hand. They're looking to shift the blame and focus away from the guns involved. Missouri is among the breath-easy open carry states of the States. Is it so hard to imagine that the gunmen simply walked into the parade with the guns in their unchecked bags with no fear? As I said in the previous post, someone immediately seemed to have asked how come the 800 cops on scene couldn't prevent the shooting.
Which will then twist whatever the answer was and blame it on Antifia or other Left leaning causes for 'why cops were unable to do their jobs and stop the shooter'.
They'll blame it on the "defund the police" agenda; suggesting there should've been more cops that would've obviously stopped both gunmen.
Local children's hospital that treated the 9 kids with gunshot wounds just announced all of them will fully recover. So at least there's that...
Gosh I hope the Second Amendment is doing ok. I mean that's what's important, not the lives of innocent people. Am I doing it right conservatives?
When Sandy Hook didn’t move the debate, I knew any meaningful gun legislation was dead. Seeing this today just proves that this will never change because more people care about their guns than they do children’s lives.
America’s gun industry and the US government’s long, close history This is worth a listen if you have 23 minutes. I have also listened to the entire podcast The Gun Machine, which is also well done. Nutshell version: —Like many if not most of what is wrong with America, the problem is capitalism. The gun industry that began in the 18th century with Eli Whitney (yes, that Eli Whitney) needed a market in the newly independent US, and the military was not going to be sufficient. —Also like much of what is wrong with America, the problem is racism. To be fair guns were initially marketed to abolitionists, but they were then marketed to racist white people, and the Second Amendment came into being partially as a way to placate the South who wanted to use it for slave patrols.
This is disgusting. https://www.vice.com/en/article/y3d...-a-40-acre-compound-in-texas-for-its-patriots
Meanwhile, now two ADULTS are charged with the shootings at the Super Bowl parade. Turns out they were the ones who actually shot and killed the person who died and others. One got in a fight, pulled out his gun and started shooting. The other, who actually wound up killing Lisa Lopez-Galvan, pulled out his own gun to aim at the first shooter and killed Lisa as an innocent bystander. Guns are evil. Straight up. People can't be trusted with them. Repeal the Second Amendment.
You mean this is yet another instance that demonstrates we can't count on some random GGWAG to hypercompetently stop a BGWAG?
Yep. Nor could we count on the 800 police officers with guns to stop it either. Amazing how that works.
Some of them are calling the mayor a coward for running. Y’know…the elected official despised by certain segments of the population who -in the chaos- was probably uncertain as to whether or not he was the target of an assassination attempt; but go off
I love our Mayor. His hands unfortunately are very tied by Missouri laws that make it impossible for him to help pass city laws on guns. Also KC is the only major city in the country who doesn't run our own police force, the state Republicans do instead. Blech. But yeah I'm sure some right wing idiots will target Mayor Lucas anyway for *no particular reason* (yes he's black).
Maybe the idiots calling him a coward for running, should get a job in public schools so they will have to take active shooter training. Running is what you are *supposed to* do. But I’m sure the usual suspects don’t want him to stay alive so there is that.
Hundreds of cops decide to cede responsibility to some bystander tackling a guy. Let’s give the mayor some bad press though. Ugh.
