ST Gwendoline Christie (Captain Phasma) in the ST

yeh i think this woudl be a great way to go.
1) have her disgraced, hunting down Finn to get back into the FO's good books. she is at this a point a mercenary/bounty hunter.
2) have her strong willed and knowledgeable of what the FO is truly like. this would mean she wouldnt care if she has been 'fired' from the FO and now wants to just get back at Finn, because it was 'personal' (could see F-Disney doing something like this)
3) just have her back at the FO like Kylo will be. resume role from TFA, with revenge on her mind.

 

Yep, just as I expected her to look after being thrown in a trash compactor.

 

I take it Gwendoline didn't mention Phasma at all (beyond her toy) when she was hosting the Rogue One panel.

 

Do you think we will or won't see her unmasked before she more than likely dies in the ST?

 

I think we almost certainly will.

 

So at this point, can this character be salvaged?

IS hunting Finn going to be her prime motivation in Episode VIII?

Or with rumors of Kylo primarily being on Ahch-To, will Phasma be the main baddie calling the shots for the FO on the battlefield unlike in TFA where it was Kylo.

Will she continue to be the joke she was in TFA?
Rian hasn't dropped any hints about her. And Gwendoline has yet to comment on her role in Episode VIII.

 

I could see Phasma and Hux leading the First Order charge for most of the film while Kylo is off looking for/confronting Luke and Rey.

 

It seems like there's gonna be too much going on with other more prominent characters to give Phasma the proper character boost that she needs.

It'll be tough to salvage her.

 

That fake reddit script, from a week ago, had her kill off both Benecio and Laura Dern.

I guess something like would build her cred. I mean look at Kylo. The only people he directly killed in TFA were two old men standing still.

 

I can see her coming back with messed up armor and possibly without her helmet going on a tirade and executing civilians and Resistance members or holding them hostage in exchange for Finn.

I've also seen the weird theories that involved Phasma switching to the side of good.

 

She was alright during the screen time that she had in 7 but they could have made her better as a character. I hope that she will be better in episode 8 even though I think that there are characters that should have more time on-screen compared to Phasma.

 

I'm starting to think Phasma may turn out to be a Resistance spy. I have no evidence of this other than I think it'd be cool. But someone let the Resistance know that the First Order was targeting D'Qar next and the fact that she lowered the shields without any fight is suspicious.

 

Then I would have hoped she told the resistance about Hosnian Prime as a target first. Plus she could have dissuaded Kylo from killing the civilians on Jakku since he only needed Lor and Poe.

I think once the resistance could trace back the first shot from Starkiller (to Hosnian) that their long range scanners could determine where its set up to aim next time.

Now could she believe in the FO philosophy but not believe starkiller was a way to go about it. Absolutely. The Visual Dictionary hints that she and Hux are divided on certain issues internal to the FO, but Hux pulls rank.

 

I think that makes it all the more interesting. She's sending Intel to the Resistance but she still has to do her job for the First Order otherwise her cover is blown and the Resistance loses a valuable asset. Maybe there just wasn't enough time to get a message out to the Republic. It would make for an interesting dynamic between she and Finn.

 

That sounds like she pulling a Machiavelli, and playing both sides, rather than care about the resistance or innocents being hurt.

 

I'm sure a lot of spies had to do things they didn't want to (even horrible things) to keep up the pretense of being a loyal officer. Unless she wanted to defect like Finn she really wouldn't have a choice. But this is all probably moot anyway. Just thinking out loud.

 

I actually really like the idea of Phasma being a spy, not sure how likely it is, but it really would make her a more interesting character.

 

The big thing is where did Phasma come from?

Is she an Empire child like Hux?
Is she an older soldier leftover from the Empire like Agent Terex?
Was she once a member of the Republic but switched sides like Kylo?
Was she an outside contractor that the FO hired to train the young and growing troopers?
Is she like Finn but an older child who was taken from her family and given a choice to die or serve the FO?

Has anyone in the FO seen her without her helmet?

 

These are questions we'll most likely not get the answers to, in my opinion.

 

I would prefer if Phasma would be an antagonist, she would work better as that. Sorry if this sentence is bad but English isn't my first language.

 

Maybe Phasma wears a helmet because she has no head!
