Han and Anakin Similarities

I've been reading the Young Han Solo triology again. The last time I read it was before the TPM was released. I don't know if this topic has been discussed already and sorry if it has but I've been noticing similarities between Han's past with Anakin Skywalker's past.

Ok both Anakin and Han grow up being a slave, Anakin is a slave to Watto and Han is a slave to Garris Shrike.

Both Anakin and Han's dream is to become a star pilot and fly away from their slave life.

Both Anakin and Han have a mother figure in their life. Anakin his mom Shmi and Han has Delewna*sp the female Wookiee that looks after Han.

Both Anakin and Han race it some race car type race Anakin podracing and Han swoop racing.

They both fall inlove with someone that is alot more wealthy than them. Padme Queen Seantor, Bria daughter of a veryvery rich man on Corellia and Leia Organa Princess Senator.

Anakin and Han both dream about being a Jedi and Imperial Officer but then once they get are within the organization they find out its not all they thought it was going to be and end up leaving it by going aganist the rules. Anakin breaking the rules of Jedi code and Han saving Chewie from being tortured by is fellow Imperial Officers.

But Han and Anakin choose two different paths, Han goes over to the light side while Anakin falls to the dark side.

Now I know the Young Han Solo Triology was published before TPM was relased but I was wonder if George Lucas helped with coming up with those 3 books because of the similarities. Maybe he did Maybe he didn't but I thought it was pretty cool how similiar Han and Anakin are, the ability in the force is the only thing that seperates them I think.

After thinking about this that sence in A New Hope when Han comes back to save the day and takes out one of the TIEs and screws up Vaders shot. That sence is a lot more interesting.

 

Both are fathers of twins, a boy and girl for that matter. That's a similarity.

Interesting connections, though. Never really noticed that.

 

Just asking, but in what book does Anakin die in? I just finished the Dark Tide duology, and am starting to like him, and dont want to get too attatched since i know he dies...

 

The author of this thread was referring to Anakin Skywalker, not Anakin Solo, but the latter dies in Star by Star... valiantly if you must know.

Both come out of obscurity to go on to greatness. Although the greatness they both go on to differs.

 

oh, sorry, i was just gonna post the question in the first topic that said Anakin, and didnt bother to skim which anakin they were talking about... Thanks, though I guess i have a few books to go through before i get to it..
