Han and Leia fans unite!!!!

Hey, wait a second. How *would* he get away with it anyways?? Leia's got the force. Couldn't she like *tell* if Han was going to cheat on her??

Yeah, would you really want to piss off your wife who was a Jedi? I just don't see it being in Han's personality to do that. Han was a rogue, but he always did the right thing, especially in ROTJ. Even if they were having problems (like in the NJO), because then that would make it all the more worse to try to get her back. Too bad, I really liked Cindy Olsen's other fics...

What IS it with people and Han and Leia cheating on each other? Do people have complexes?

GOD I don't CARE if your boyfriend did it to you in real life.. DON'T bring it into SW.

We live in a society obsessed with sex and obsessed with "juicy" stuff like infidelity. These cheatin' heart stories reflect that. Sometimes it's like that "Jessara" story, where you have a Mary Sue trying to get in between Han and Leia but most of the time the author is just mirroring the kinds of stuff she sees on t.v. and in the movies. Many fan writers see Han as a guy who has a difficult time keeping his zipper up anyway.

I'm glad Cindy is going to fix things between Han and Leia in her next story, but geez, the damage is already done and I don't think Leia would take him back if he'd been unfaithful to her. They weren't married in this story, btw.

 

But why do they think Han is a guy who can't keep his "zipper up"? Because he is cocky and sometimes arrogant? That is such.... UGH! Whatever. I have to remind myself it is only a fanfic.

It's just that as a Han fan I find it an insult to his character. It is just defamation of character almost.

But like I said, it is only a fanfic.

 

Well, OK, if Han did *that* to her then I can TOTALLY understand her actions in COPL. But, really, Leia would *never* take back Han if he slept with another woman. And Han knows that, which is why he wouldn't risk everything he had just for sex.

I know a lot of fanfic writers see Han as sex-driven guy, but I think by the time he got together with Leia he was reformed. Yeah, like most guys he still appreicates the physical pleasures, but Leia should be able to help him that department without him looking elsewhere. And I CANNOT see him falling for some seduction technique by a woman. He's too experienced and wordly to fall for something like that. Luke would be more believable.

I hope it wasn't Bria he cheated on her with in this fic. I have seen WAY too many of those fics around and every time my blood pressure goes up.

OK I gotta keep reminding myself it's just a fanfic, it's just a fanfic...

Fanfics like these make me like the EU. At least Han's always been faithful to her in it.

I think it's in a fanzine, so it won't be online for a year or so (good).

One good thing that could come from it is that Leia's treatment of Han in COPL would be totally understandable. But, again I think she wouldn't even consider taking him back if he ever cheated on her.

NO! Come on! Don't let a stupid fanfic make THAT crap understandable. If something like that happened don't you think it would have been refrenced to in COPL?

*shudder* I am sorry but the words justification and Leia's behavior in COPL in the same sentence make me want to vomit.

There is another fanfic that tries to "justify" COPL. IT is called "Drifting" basically blames Han for COPL. Made me ill. The nerve! He gets crapped on and people try to make Leia look innocent? PUKE PUKE PUKE!!!!!!

Speaking of COPL. I myself have a fanfic in the fanfiction section called "Turnabout is fairplay." It puts Leia in Han's position in COPL.

Although I can't believe someone can actually write something blaming poor Han for COPL. Well okay, that whole *kidnapping* thing was out of line, but before that Leia was being such a b**ch to him. And what did he do to her? Win her a planet? Nice gratitude for you..

But enough about CoPL, I would rather just blot it from my memory all together.

 

Yeah the kidnaping was STUPID. The "real" Han would have told her to go to H*ll if she started acting that way. But whatever.

I too would like to blot it out of my mind. Unfortunately I have all these fanfic ideas. Like the one I mentioned. And don't worry, there will be no kidnapping in mine.

jewlmc- I agree with you about people's characterization of Han! They get him so wrong in their fics! I HATE that! It's why I like to write, becuase I'm like Han, I know his personality ect. so I know he's not a *@&$^ like some make him out to be!

Ok, so it's a soapbox subject for me, so I'll try not to get into it! But Jewlmc, I'd like to have a link to your fic. I wanna read it.... sounds interesting.



I know we talk about fics alot now, but it's for the better! Like it or not, it's an important part of SW. It helps us express our feelings, and *sometimes* it creates really awesome and believable stories (like 'ICE'...!) But anyway, my point is it's OK with me to talk about it.. I welcome it!

Ok, so I was really wondering if there is anyone in here who would be willing to edit some of my fanfics. It's really important to get several opinions, I think.

Second order of business, is there anyone who would like to help me with my fan novel, 'Rebel Strike'. It could be writing, editing, ideas, ect. I am very willing to make this a group effort. It's an ANH-ESB series.... I'm assembling my stories from then into a.... how should I say it.... chronicles... yeah.... I'm probably confusing you all! OTC is the best! I don't hate all that Jedi wars, Jaina/Jacen, or Ani/Ami fics..... it just seems to me that we don't write enough about the Original Three. So if you've got some, tell me. I'll gladly r/r!

The I agree with alot of what you said except about it being an "important" part of SW. It isn't. I also don't like people using these characters as their therapy tool. Same thing with Luke. People trash his character alot too.

 

Han didn't cheat with Bria; she didn't figure into this story at all. "The Wager" is in a fanzine and it won't be online for a while.

A lot of fan fic writers go waaaay off base with the characters. Han is often portrayed as a horndog because the women who write about him think he's a total sex god. Read Star Trek fan fic, or any other fandom's fic for that matter, and whoever is perceived as a "hottie" is often portrayed as someone with an unquenchable libido. I've seen stories with such a randy Qui-Gon you wonder how he managed to find time to be a Jedi and train Obi-Wan and stuff.

Hey. *waves arms* I'm writing a fanfic too. Since you guys are the big Han and Leia fans I would love to know what *you* think of it. Seriously, even if you think it sucks. But in my defense I will say there is no Mary Sues and no Bria or anything revolting like that.

Sorry, am I sounding like a parrot now? I know, begging is degrading to everyone involved. I'll stop now.

But just a general question for you fellow writers. Before I started this I thought Leia would be harder to write than Han, but actually now that I started I find it harder to write Han for some reason. (ooh any tips solojones about how to get into solo's psyche?)
