Valairy Scot --I saw that interview, too! I thought it was great. And for the record, it was Jon Stewart who wanted to talk about "Star Wars" and Harrison Ford (truthfully, JJ probably would've preferred talking about the movie he was actually there to promote, but whatever). I got a big kick out of the whole conversation. Especially when they were talking about Harrison Ford's healing abilities. I couldn't help think of this thread last summer when people were all referring to his injury like "That's what you get when you when have a lead so old…" etc. Meanwhile, Harrison Ford bounces back, and it's the much younger JJ Abrams who ends up with the broken back. Go figure. Suck on it, haters. ;)

I love Han. Well, ESB Han ;). I hated what he'd become in ROTJ. Wise cracking, courageous lothario to a soppy no one who literally just vacillated around Leia.

You bring up an important point starocean90, Han back to his old ways?? A character should never regress, they must always progress no matter what.

yeah I agree which is one reason I hope it isn't true.
seems like he and Leia aren't together seems like it could have been caused by the whole loss of their kid(s) and he's back to his old ways, he angers people and they want to him dead, he loses his ship supposedly days before VII, he's in bars all the time....

maybe we're getting all of this happens because of depression.[face_dunno]

didn't Tony Stark have PTSD in Iron Man 3.;)

except obviously for distribution, I don't think Disney is that involved in Pixar, Marvel and Lucasfilm's movies.
just because it's Disney doesn't mean it will follow the typical Disney film.

Slow on the uptake, but I just came across the Ford plane crash reason article on AP.

At any rate, I am glad he's okay and am looking forward to seeing Han in December :)

it's not a disney movie, it's a lucasfilm movie distributed by disney ffs.

depression is common in star wars and disney movies anyway.

and regarding HAN: I'm not a huge fan of what they did to him in rotj either but I think tfa will rectify this. his backstory is going to be more than 'sad drunk' I can guarantee you, even if that's what he appears to be on screen. this film could be like his 'redemption'. his experiences in anh and esb are still part of 'who he is', and in between trilogies it's pretty much known that he went on to be a rebel/new republic hero right? of course after the rumoured tragedy of him losing his son in an attack for him to later become this huge evil threat he becomes depressed, but kind of like luke in exile (another thing people assume is 'cause the characters are 'lazy' or some **** lol) we'll actually see han do something about it in this film rather than just in the backstory. he drags himself out of his 'depression', gets in touch with old friends, goes on another 'adventure', and then sacrifices himself while trying to redeem his son. better than having him around doing not much like in rotj. (kind of directing this at a bunch of people).

Sometimes regression can be a form of progression in terms of characterization. Because of circumstances, sometimes people slip and lose who they've become and revert back to who they were. It'll only feel weird if it comes across like they did it for the sake of doing it, and not because it's what was right for his character in the context of this story.

My favorite part of that article was the bit about Harrison and Peter. That really made me smile. Cool that we'll hear more about the Young Han Solo movie later today!

    That's a must-read.

Got a bit misty, I have to admit, reading about the old Pinewood hands stopping everything to watch that scene.

    What a moment.

If Han Solo is summarily executed by Kylo Ren for no good reason in Episode VII, that would be a terrible way to phase out a popular and well-liked (in some cases, loved) character in the Star Wars universe.

Until I see it happen on screen, or get undeniable proof, I take the rumor with a grain of salt.

I'd say it's likely that not all of our old favorites will survive the trilogy, but if they die, it must be done right, in a heroic fashion.

Why do we think he lost his ship just days before Ep7? The way he reacted in the trailer, he hadn't been there for a very long time. That reaction was a bit much for "just a few days."

Why would he lose it in the first place. Assuming that line has story significance anyway.

It sounds like the Solo Movie will have Han getting the Falcon, so I guess we might see young Lando in there as well...

Maybe Han is incredibly senile now, and every single time he and Chewie get back to the Falcon, that's how he reacts?

    1) This isn't a Disney movie. 2) Marvel Studios is in a similar position to Lucasfilm, and Tony Stark's entire character arc post-The Avengers is dealing with increasingly unmanageable PTSD. 3) Seriously though Disney movies are really messed up anyway.
