So can we get a roll call on who's coming? I want to know how many seats I'm going to need to save.

ROFL, if it's like Transformers, they won't let you save any seats. Of course, the bathroom/food run thing works.

Love the new running header for today too...

I'll be there but I have IMAX tickets so I don't think you can save me a seat. :p

But seriously, I can't get in line for the IMAX screening until maybe 6:00 at the earliest. Hopefully somebody else here with IMAX tickets can get there earlier than that so we don't get crappy seats. :(

Awesome. Just wonderful. I especially love Imelda Staunton as Umbridge. She had the perfect mix of icky-sweet and evil that just makes your skin crawl. It runs right about 2 hours long, so lots of parts of the book were left out, but it still maintained enough of the story to stay pretty true to the book. Very well done. My husband said it was his absolute favorite of the Harry movies, his previous being Prisoner of Azkaban.

What shocked the heck out of me is how much the kids have grown. I mean I know they're supposed to have grown up some, but dang...

The jury's still out for me. I think a second (IMAX 3D) viewing is in order to fully gather my thoughts on it.

It's now my favorite of the 5 movies so far. Azkaban was my previous fav. This and Transformers are imo the best movies of the year so far. Thumbs up indeed!

I was at the 6:30pm IMAX last night. It is far better than the last movie. The last one was my least favorite of all the movies. IMAX. 3D. Wow!! Awesome!! I loved it. It is a definite must see on IMAX a 2nd time for me. I love 3D and the 3D portion in the last 20 minutes was really neat. It looked like they were actually walking up to you. If you were at the CSC SW Exhibit and went to the Dinosaurs in the IMAX theater, then you know what the 3D IMAX for HP will be like.

?Harry Potter? casts record spell at box office

?Order of the Phoenix? earns $44.8 million for best single-day gross ever
LOS ANGELES - The boy wizard still has a magic touch at the box office.

"Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix" took in $44.8 million in its first day, the best single-day gross ever for a movie on a Wednesday.

That included $12 million from screenings that started at midnight Tuesday.

The sequel from Time Warner Inc. unit Warner Bros. topped the previous Wednesday record of $40.4 million for 2004's "Spider-Man 2," according to box-office tracker Media By Numbers.

"In terms of box office, the law of diminishing returns does not apply to `Harry Potter.' It seems to be getting better with age," said Paul Dergarabedian, Media By Numbers president, who noted that the July 21 publication of the seventh and final "Harry Potter" novel likely helped drive interest in the latest film.

"It has the effect of creating even more excitement for both properties," Dergarabedian said. "It's a synergistic match made in heaven to have the book and movie come out within a couple weeks of each other."

"Order of the Phoenix," the fifth installment of the movie franchise based on J.K. Rowling's fantasy best-sellers, has teen wizard Harry (Daniel Radcliffe) teaching classmates magic spells to defend themselves against the coming battle with the forces of dark Lord Voldemort.

The cast includes Emma Watson and Rupert Grint as Harry's closest school chums, plus Ralph Fiennes, Michael Gambon, Maggie Smith, Gary Oldman, Helena Bonham Carter, Emma Thompson and Imelda Staunton.

I'm probably going to the 10:35pm showing tonight at Mira Mesa (regular not IMAX) with some of my coworkers if anyone wants to come.

As a bonus to the Boy Scouts who have been helping at camp this week, the Pack is taking them to see this on Saturday. I'll be accompanying Sean since I'm dying to see it; but he refuses to go in costume. I guess he's tired out from playing Pirate all week. :)

    **** THIS IS EMILY*****

(Our sign ins don't work to well)

I'm still wishy washy on whether I like it. Like Marty said.....maybe I have to watch it a second time to really be able to enjoy it......I had the checklist in my mind the first time. The directing was ....... interesting.... to say the least.

plus I had to pee for about 2 hours of the movie - so that might have skewed my opinion.

Paul and I finally got to see this Saturday.

....neither one of us liked it that much, in comparison.

As a standalone movie, for someone who'd never read the book, it was fine...although a bit choppy.

For someone who's read the book once, still not bad.

For people like me who've memorized the books because they've been read so much--very disappointing because all the nuances were left out, and the small things that fleshed out characters were gone.

As someone who's never read the books, this might be my favorite movie of them all.
