ST Hayden Christensen (Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader) in IX

He could still be incarnation of the Jedi prophecy even if he was created by Sith experimentation. Like from a 'the Force works in mysterious ways' kinda thing. The Force deemed he be created to fill a certain role, and the Sith were just the means used by the Living Force to facilitate it. The same way the current Catholic Church stance is that evolution was the means by which God 'selected' these species and abilities, etc.

 

Matt Martin tweeted and said that comic's abstract vision was not to be taken literally. One panel shows Palps behind Shmi who is already pregnant - it is a metaphor for Anakin being touched by the dark.

Clarification: Even if the comic insinuated that Palpatine was behind Anakin's creation and birth, that still does not make him his father. Neither literally (no common DNA) nor figuratively (most definitely not a father figure to him). So the entire conversation about how it makes it creepy, wrong, weird, depressing, etc if Palpatine is Vader's daddy, is kind of null. Manipulating the midi-chlorians to create life in Shmi's body is NOT the same as impregnating a woman, not even close. I never understood why people jump to these lengths and conclusions to be honest.

Well, if that's all the comic is, that's a whole other situation. That's more than fine, if it's just some Vader hallucination/vision. We know Anakin's a twisted, emotionally-unstable psycho at this point, he's still in all that blame-the-world-and-not-myself phase. If it's just something in Anakin's head, the dark side spurring on some peyote vision-quest thing, that's hardly conclusive at all, yeah. Anakin can believe Sheev did it and that not be the case, same way Sheev can infer to Anakin he was this Plagueis guy's student and that not be true either.

Yeah, sounds like the "confirmed!" headlines on this are mountains out of molehills, good to have some context. If it's in Vader's head it's hardly definitive, you can't exactly trust Vader through the dark years, guy's mind's far astray.

I would say it is like some sort of spirit journey showing glimpses of the past, the future and from Vader's subconscious.

Hope that helps to contextualize the whole thing.

 

If having his presence there is necessary to bring the story together and please most viewers, and makes for a deeper and better story then I don't mind his presence.

I've heard rumors that he will be there in a force vision. It's hard to say though...

 

I am more confident than I have EVER been at this moment about Hayden being in TROS. In fact, I am amazingly hitting a 51.22% certainty that Hayden will be in it.

I've said it in this thread many times- NOTHING makes more sense than to bring the saga's premiere character in if you are tying the saga together as JJ claims he is doing. Justifications are endless in canon, including the last scene of the OT explicitly showing the existence of force ghost Anakin (and, it was changed to Hayden, so...).

But none of that is the reason I am today more certain that he will appear- if JJ is willing to bring back Palp (in some form), I am more inclined to believe he is serious about tying the saga together, and therefore it would be more likely Anakin will come in. After all- there is no stretch at all in canon for Hayden the force ghost, where Palp is a little more of stretch (although entirely possible, just saying Anakin is the more plausible of the two; it could even be expected that Force Ghost Anakin would come back if you look at previous similar situations in canon).

Anakin is the one and only original patriarch of the Skywalkers. The movie is The Rise of Skywalker, and this is "Big Daddy" Skywalker, so I think he should and just might get a place in it.

 

Just like the title of Return of the Jedi alluded to Anakin, Rise of Skywalker could be doing the same. If it cannot be Leia, then I'd definitely be on board for Anakin.

 

Well, now that Sheev is back, I am glad to report that I am officially hopping on the "Hayden will be in TROS" train!

 

I thinking (and hoping) that he's gonna be in it now!

 

With the title and Palpatine cackle I am putting Christensen as Anakin in the movie at 80%. big Force Ghost battle from the Netherworld climax like ROTJ was going to end.

 

Hayden almost has to be in it now. If Palpatine (and therefore the Sith) are back then Anakin has to return to restore balance.

Anakin, Luke & Rey vs Palpatine & Kylo? Or even Anakin, Luke, Rey & Kylo/Ben against Palpatine?

 

Just imagine their conversation. Palpatine completely mocking Anakin as weak and his lackey.

 

I'm 90% we will see Anakin in a wordless cameo as a Force Ghost standing there with Luke, Yoda and Obi-Wan at the very end of the movie.

I'm 50% we will see Anakin in conversation with Kylo as a Force Ghost or in a dream or Force Vision of some kind.

I'm 15% we will see Anakin, along with Luke, Yoda and Obi-Wan in a Return of the King type moment when Aragorn led the armies of the dead into battle, and we might see these Force Ghosts charging against an army of Stormtroopers and walkers to help the young heroes escape...

I don't believe Sidious is back in the flesh or even in a spirit form, but that Kylo finds some kind of hologram or Sith Holocron an consults it a few times throughout the movie, and it's evil message and presence makes it seem like Palpatine is alive, and this somehow gives Kylo power, or at least the feeling that he's more powerful having learned from Sidious.

I hope so. Just as in earlier drafts of ROTJ Kenobi and Yoda materialize to help Luke, Anakin or both Anakin and Luke do the same to help Rey. The Chosen One strikes again!

And to have my cake and eat it too, I hope Rey is one of his 2 grandchildren, as Lucas had envisioned at least 2 by his comments.

 

Seriously. I would eat the dirt from the foundation of every Disney Theme Park to see Anakin get an action scene in TROS. Would be too dope to be true tho so if it doesn't happen, somebody better right up a fanfiction of that.

If Palpatine returns, then Anakin should be able to also. If he is the true Chosen One, then it is his duty to destroy the Sith (again).

OR perhaps the force birthed Rey as sort of a reincarnated Anakin, with powers even stronger than his were, to fight the battle again. Perhaps she was sold for drinking money because she was simply born to someone who did not want a baby.

 

If Skywalker returns the new jedi will rise. Snoke's words and fears. With Palpatine returning what if instead of Luke Anakin returns brings on the new trough Rey. I'll say not there's 90% chance he's coming back and 50% Anakin is somewhat important to the plot like good old Sidious.

 

Its for the new generation to face though. even JJ and KK said that. bringing anakin back makes it about him and at this point i suspect its more about lineage than the holy figure anakin skywalker.

lets be honest if Luke wasn't given a big glorified awesome best jedi in the world role in TLJ, then Anakin probably won't either.

Also they could go as simple as the Anakin/vader concept art. but then that probably would be a more twisted view and probably the loving father/grandfather people wanna see.
