ST Hayden Christensen (Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader) in IX

With a certain character seemingly back from the dead (or at least in some form or another), I'll say the chance of seeing Anakin in this one went up considerably and when/if it happens I'll probably cry tears of joy.

 

I dunno whether Palpatine coming back automatically means anakin needs to come back. they ain't tied together really. palpatine has been around much longer then anakin and anakin wasn't born to take down Palpatine. whether he is the chosen one or not the force didn't automatically create him to do it.

 

But what prophecy, we have the jedi one then the mortis one then the whills so witch?

 

So the father was mistaken then and Rey would take his place and guard the mortis land. Makes sense since once Anakin came they all edned up dead.

 

I'm 50/50 as to whether Hayden shows up in Episode IX. I worry that there is too much to cover in this movie to make it work without bogging the plot down. Episode VII gave us a bunch of unanswered questions that could have been built upon in Episode VIII. Instead, Episode VIII was all about trashing pretty much every unknown that Abrams created in VII leaving a major void to be filled. I feel like Episode IX will be focused on retconning parts of Episode VIII and trying to make the overall trilogy feel coherent as Episode VII and VIII feel so at-odds with each other.

 

I'd bet when they get to where they are going they will find memories of Anakin and Palpatine. Rey will use the Force and we will get a flashback imo.

 

Yeah thats the thing. this trilogy is about the next generation, they are the heroes here. they probably won't make anakin or luke this big glorious thing because its not about them anymore. the legends of the 2 might have a part but its still not about them.

And yeah there is alot to cover in this movie. the stories of the new characters will be a big part of it and there is only so much past stuff they can cover in the time they have.

 

And Palps the devil?

 

Frank's no devil. He's the senate. Don't your remember your Star Wars?

If Palpatine properly returns I hope Anakin does as well. I'd love to see him appear so that maybe Kylo would realise how wrong he'd been. I'd also like to see him and Luke working together to defeat Palpatine. I wonder what the possibility is of a scene with Anakin, Luke and Leia. Maybe they could all leave together at the end.

 

George Lucas has already said Anakin was the chosen one because he killed Palpatine. So if they bring back Palpatine and say Rey is the chosen one, that will just be a retcon of the original creators idea.

I'm not a huge SW fan anymore (I saw TLJ only once) but if they retcon the Chosen One thing I won't give any future SW related anything a chance.

 

The way Luke says "We will always be with you" and "We have taught you everything we know" only increases the chance of Anakin's return.

 

You should never choose a prophecy reader with dyslexia.

 

I'm guessing we'll see Yoda again.

 

I want to see everyone again lol. I know the shadow of the greed, that is.

 

As with any SW film I’m really looking forward to IX and yet I feel exactly the same way as you about this trilogy. Considering the close control the TPTB exercised and the subsequent changes that went on behind the scenes with RO and Solo it amazes me that they were happy with the direction Rian took TLJ and where that was taking the ST as a whole. So I almost feel as if IX is going to be more a natural sequel to TFA. I’m excited for it.

 

Another thing to think about- Luke clearly stated in the trailer that he is working with others (presumably force ghosts) to prepare Rey. The title of the movie is The Rise of Skywalker. Wouldn't it make sense that the title refers to the Skywalker name in plural, as in more than one Skywalker? A collaboration of Skywalkers working together? Anakin and Luke (with Leia's support) train Rey (who may well be a Skywalker also) to defeat Palp and Kylo.

That would do much to explain the title.

 

Within context, he does follow that up with "thousands of generations live in you now" and a thousand generations goes way beyond Anakin and even Qui-Gon. and there were no force ghosts beyond that point.

I think what Luke said may end up more a metaphor for thousands of years of jedi knowledge that Rey recieved tbh.

 

If it was meant to be plural it would be plural.

 

I think they're waiting to the release of the full trailer to announce that Hayden is in the movie..... At least that's what I'm hoping but for me it just wouldn't make sense to not have Anakin Skywalker in a movie called The rise of the skywalkers

If anakin is in it at all. you can probably expect a TLJ Yoda type reveal.
