ST Hayden Christensen (Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader) in IX

Hayden could play grown-up broom boy. It would become a SW tradition to have Hayden playing adult versions of little blond kids from previous films.

 

I have a crazy/dumb speculation about the movie. While I'm sure the hands seen driving the Tie Fighter in the trailer are going to be Kylo's....what if they're Anakin's?
Not sure if this has been discussed anywhere in the previous 29 pages, but I can't stop thinking about it. I won't be disappointed if it doesn't happen.

 

Anakin stays away from sand.

 

How could he do that? and WHY would he do that?

 

Anakin will show up at endor when you least expect it.

 

The most rational part of me says that Rey and Kylo are staging a scene, but what if the Skywalker ghosts are training her in Force techniques?

 

As much as I can see Anakin show up at some point, I just don't see how a Force ghost could be piloting a TIE. Besides, Rey has hardly heard of Anakin; she knows a bit about Vader, that's it. There's no reason for Anakin to show up into Rey's life and begin training her, while she doesn't even have a clue of who he is in the two previous movies....

Besides Daisy said that Rey completed her training with the ancient Jedi texts. I don't expect to see any training scene at all tbh. I wish I'm wrong though.

 

His first line should be: "Hello there!"

Yeah i suspect all the training Rey had was in TLJ. Because its like OT. Luke didnt need extra training after empire.

 

Luke received actual training in ESB though.

 

Yeah but Rey had her moment like that. to do round 2 in the next film would probably feel like backtracking.

 

I didn't much of a training, except if it is how we should consider Luke's complaints about the Jedi... But yes in a way I agree that it's too late to show a proper session of training now.

 

I want Hayden to show up in a fat suit, long scraggly beard and wearing his pajamas.

 

Have him yawning, scratching his butt with one hand, and holding a plush podracer. Then have walk up to Obi-Wan and say, "Hey Obi-Wan, I forgot to tell ya before my slumber to warn the New Republic about some group called the First..*sees Luke in the Netherworld*...What did I miss?"

 

Maybe Anakin decided to practice his pod racing as a force ghost.....

 

I have a feeling that if we see anakin, it will be at the end with him joining Obi-Wan, Yoda, and Luke watching Rey and the Resistance celebrate their victory over the First Order.

 

I am 100 percent in favor of Hayden appearing, and I would be enraged if the role was recast. I don't know exactly how, but his ghost should somehow "bring balance to the Force," maintaining his status as the Chosen One. Maybe Anakin saves Kylo and/or Rey from Palpatine, maybe he sacrifices his presence in the physical realm somehow. I want him to somehow be heroic if he appears. It won't be a deal breaker if he doesn't appear, but the character deserves a legacy.

A bold idea that I have is that in his last shot, Hayden's ghost turns into Sebastian Shaw just before he fades away, as a tribute to the actor and the central character of the saga. Not CGI, but the actual footage of Sebastian from 1982.

 

I would be in favor of Anakin sacrificing himself in death where he can't come back as a ghost. Not only would that ease some of the criticism that Vader is able to come back even after all the evil he has done, but that would drive home Anakin's redemption that he would be willing to sacrifice immortality to make things right. Would bring complete closure to his character and would bring the saga full circle. Obviously he shouldn't overshadow anyone, but a final scene of the character would bring a lot of joy to a good portion of the fandom.

 

My literal ONLY request for TROS is that Anakin at least gets MENTIONED during the film. While I think a force ghost scene is necessary, I can settle for a MENTIONING or FLASHBACK. Episodes 1-6 were literally the story of Anikan Skywalker, so how he doesn't even get mentioned in 7-9 would be a big WTF. JJ said he is tying he saga together, so I fell like Anikan must play a role in that, you would think?

 

I personally need more than a mention. Anakin is still existing and the "Luke's father" reference in TFA certainly wasn't enough for me. Can't imagine Maz saying "Anakin" this time would do much. I think it would probably be wishful thinking that he would play any role in the story, but a flashback or just a cameo at the end like ROTJ would be enough as long as it is Hayden.

 

IMO, there is no conceivable adequate ending of the nine part saga without some legitimate appearance of Anakin/Darth Vader.

Best case, IMO, he shows up as a ghost and actually affects the current storyline. A flashback that adds context and reveals something that affects the current storyline would be good enough for me. The notion that an appearance by Hayden would somehow be unwelcome, whether because JJ didn't like him in the PT, or whether Disney doesn't want to remind people of the PT, is to me completely absurd. The idea of a force ghost Anakin was the single promise of the end of ROTJ. That and the idea that Luke would go on to train Leia, and then others after her as Jedi to continue the legacy. The ST dropped the ball big time on one of those things. The other is still possible.

 

But Luke did go on to train Jedi so no ball dropped there. The fact that they are all dead (maybe) is just a plot point.
