Lucas stated that if it got a PG-13 rating that he would not cut it to get a PG. He said it suppose to be dark and is not for small children (under 10).

Hearing him say that made me smile and a little sad. I am thrilled it will be all I hope it will be, but I am sad I have to tell my 7 year old she may not get to see it for a while.

I think as long as you're there to explain things to her and answer any questions she has that she'll be fine. If anything bothers her I think it will be trying to understand why Anakin is betraying his friends. But then you can show her Episodes IV-VI and how everything works out.

Well, we had planned to go opening day and see it together. Now I want to see it first before I let her watch it. She has nightmares about a commercial she saw for the TV show House. The Wereeolf in Harry Potter scared her bad. I just have to see it first and she may have to wait a couple years. I thought waiting 40 days was hard.

Note. None of the blacked out texts contain any spoilers what-so-ever. However, this is HCSF and some fans may not even want a hint at what's to come. But, I also felt I should respond for the sake of people with younger children. Again, no spoilers in my text!

Some images will either scare, or seriously disturb the crap out a young child.
My suggestion? See it first, see if your kid can handle what's shown. If you don't think s/he can handle some parts, just close his/her eyes.
The problem with this, is it's not like gore fests with gallons of blood spurting out so much it's like Itchy and Scratchy. I feel that can lessen the blow of a scary scene as it makes it almost comical.
I don't think the storyline will affect them much unless they're really good at following the overall PT storyline. At younger ages, they're still very visual, and there's simply some things you probably don't want stuck in their minds. Yes, more than just the obvious one you guys are probably all thinking of.

I don't really care what it's rated. If it's a good film then I'll be happy.

Well, here's another report. Nothing official yet, though.

    PG-13 makes me happy.

I always just assumed it would be pg13. No big deal though. If it's good, it's good.

If she understands the rest of the storyline, both in terms of where Episode III has to go, and where the films go afterwards, she might be ok with it. Course I'm a guy who, at nine years old, saw Full Metal Jacket when it was first released, but waited another ten years to see The Godfather.

If you're worried about how your children will react to the movie, it would probably be a good idea to watch it once without them to see what it's like. If you think they can handle it, then you get an excuse to watch the movie a second time. ;)

Well, Caribbean Cinemas(The main theatre chain in Puerto Rico) finally uploaded it's Episode III page--and it lists it with a PG-13 rating. Of course, it also has the film clocking at 93 minutes, which I SERIOUSLY doubt will be the case--plus, Caribbean Cinemas has been wrong many times before regarding MPAA ratings, so I take it with a grain of salt.

It seems as if EVERY single unofficial source seem to back up the PG-13 rating while the MPAA and LFL keep quiet. I really hope official confirmation arrives soon...

you are a bunch of hosers. if god stood in front of you and said "this movie is pg13" you still wouldnt believe it

That type of comment is certainly uncalled for. Consider this a warning.

"Honestly, after all I've seen, I'd be damned suprised if RotS isn't rated PG-13. [. . .] Jar-Jar's magic adventure and get slapped with a 13 rating if boobs are briefly shown."

Are you suggesting something about what we're going to see in EPIII. . .????

The Daily Herald is not God. We won't believe anything until the MPAA or LFL makes an official announcement regarding the rating of this movie.

    What is God? - Control.

No. No, I can't back that up :(
Well there is the darkside seduction scene where Palpatine asks Anakin to scrub his back... But you didn't hear that from me! :D

"And I'm fairly sure that no rating has been announced here in the UK yet..."

    UCI would beg to differ.
That May be so, however both Apollo and Odeon still say "TBC". I haven't read any reports suggesting that a decision has been made here in the UK yet...

I sort of expected it. not only that the movie has to be dark and a lot of things die, but IMO George seems to be more marketing towards teens with the PT than the old ones, which were more for everyone in the family. Just that I notice that there are more teens in the new ones while the old ones had 30-40 year olds, and the new ones seem more violent, although that might just be the times in general.
