I don't understand either-I thought Spiderman 2 was AWESOME - WAY better than even the first one!!

Anyways, wow - long lists...well, I can narrow mine down to a top 10 (a whole trilogy or series counts as ONE):

    1. Star Wars Saga
    2. Lord of the Rings Trilogy
    3. Harry Potter Series
    4. Braveheart
    5. Gladiator
    6. X-Men Collection
    7. The Mummy Collection
    8. Jurassic Park Trilogy
    9. Indiana Jones trilogy
    10.The Mask of Zorro

...Runners up are Tombstone, and The Patriot. Pirates of the Carribean and Independence Day are close too. Other movies like I, Robot and Van Helsing - I think those could be new favorites on my list-when I get them...I just saw them within 2 months ago, and only once, so it's too early to tell.

Believe it or not, Jurassic Park was my running #1 for years, until about a year after Phantom Menace came out-then I started to get more and more into SW. I liked it before, but not nearly as much as now. NOT enough to come on web forums and post about them!! :)

    SO THAT'S THAT...

How'd we miss Braveheart? Jurassic Park is a good one as well.

    And Hoosiers!

    What about The Jerk?

Spiderman 1 had some serious problems, but it captured the "Spiderman" mood effortlessly

Spiderman 2 is one big problem, that being that is captures the mood of a weak "Dawsons Creek" episode effortlessly

Seriously, there was nothing redeeming in that movie -nearly everything had been handled in part 1, the only interesting aspect was Doc Ock. And they even managed to mess that up.

It's bad when what's supposed to be a movies SUBplot completely dwarves it's main plot (Spidey vs Ock).

With that, i'll add another favorite movie:

    Lost in Translation

Darth_BELO Looks like you were unable to just list 10, even after lumping trilogies/series into one. It?s OK. There are a lot of good movies out there?.

Obi-Frans Haven?t seen Spidey 2 but am less likely to now? I liked Lost in Translation too, but none of my friends did?.

Glad to see the support for Hoosiers out there. It is probably my favorite standalone movie of all time. I admit it has its flaws (as the Sports Guy pointed out on ESPN Page 2) but it is a true feel good underdog movie. I watch it every year before the NCAA Selection Show in March.

I really enjoyed Spiderman 2, possibly even more than the first one. But I've been a huge Spidey fan my entire life, and I think they really capture the spirit of the early 60s and 70s Amazings...

the life of Peter Parker and his trials and tribulations with girls, money, and jobs, are just as important to the character of Spiderman (if not MORE important!) than the web-slinging, wise-cracking superhero aspect. It's part of what makes Spiderman far more compelling than, say, Superman (IMHO).

I think Lost in Translation was quite good, but not as phenomenal as everyone else seems to think. Bill Murray at least is finally getting the recognition he deserves.

Hmmm...also enjoyed Boondock Saints, Salvador, John Carpenter's Vampires. Can't believe I forgot the Princess Bride. Inconceivable!

Very true, too bad that ALL those aspects have been handled in the first one.

Spiderman 2 is just one big detour to bringing Mary Jane & Peter together, the rest told me nothing new regarding Spider or Petey.

Plus, those 'trials and tribulations' should never become more important than a main villain. It's part of the underlying whole of Spiderman, not the obvious. They could've/should've been way more subtle and creative with it.

I definitely agree with you Dustin... it's just as important if not more so that we understand who Peter Parker truly IS, he isn't just Spiderman, and he doesn't just kill the bad guys. I mean even the villains in the Spiderman movies are three dimensional, it all balances out nicely. I find it much more satisfying to actually CARE about Peter as a person. He's a normal guy, he has normal problems. And he just happens to be a superhero. For someone relatively uninformed about the comic book stories, I didn't know whether he and MJ would eventually get together... I figured and hoped, through all his normal guy screwups. And it's so gratifying that he eventually does get her, even through all of it, and not only that... he's freaking Spiderman! Ahh! It's so well done!! Though we should perhaps agree to disagree. ;)

    Momento.

Probably my favorite film. It gets me excited to see what Christopher Nolan is going to do with Batman.

I like most comic book movies, just becuse im a fan of heros. And i need to defned Spiderman 2 for a sec. As a film, that movie was awesome. It was cross genra if you really look at it. Most of the scenes with Ock were shot like a horror film. In the hospital ther was one spotligt on the victems as the arms came around, itnercuts of people screaming. Later we hear shaking and some girl in an office actually gets up and runs at the screen with her hands on her cheeks screaming as he busts in.

The love story also worked and i was a big fan of it. Showing that Peter Parker has stuff he has to do. Stuff thats not just being spiderman. He needs to pay rent, and he needs to have a job. Plus the caracters are amazing, there is almost 40 years of character history in the film.

I think it was one of the better films of the year.

Wow, now that i got that out of my system...

    Im a fan of:
    Ninja Turtles (really dark film)
    Back to the Future
    Snatch <--there is quality
    Anything by Bryan Singer

i cant really think right now, still thinking of spidy 2. sorry.

So far, very few people have mentioned what I consider to be the best film of all time - The Shawshank Redeption. Believe it or not, I am more into artistic types of film than action or *shudder* science-fiction.

Nice to see UHF in there!

I can't believe I forgot Shawshank (did I?), definitely one of the greatest movies of all time.

For old times' sake, I'd throw in Gremlins and The Goonies in there.

And I also forgot Transformers: The Movie. Best movie and definitely best soundtrack of all time. "You've got the touch! You've got the powerrrrrr!" [face_laugh]

Mace Windy - Matrix Reloaded and Matrix Revolutions were overrated. The original Matrix was very good. I saw it the first weekend it came out - before all the hype and loved it. The second two pretty much disappointed me.

Shawshank is very good. Think I said it before, but I will say it again...

Garth - Transformers The Movie is great. Great soundtrack. You mentioned, "The Touch" but I would like to submit that "Dare" is the best song on that soundtrack. "Dare to believe you can survive..."

RS77 - Clue is comic genius. "picked up the dagger, raaaaaaaannnnnn down the hall, and stabbed the cook!" Tim Curry was great in that movie. Actually, I don't think there was a bad performance in the movie. When I see those actors in newer roles, I still refer to them by their Clue pseudonym....

The Shawshank Redemptuon is probably my favorite live-action film ever, and I'm somebody who usually despises "arthouse" movies(Too boring and pretentious for my tastes).

And, yes... I find the Matrix trilogy to be overrated too. I especially HATE HATE HATE how Cypher effortlessly kills two worthless side characters but stalls because the top-billed Keanu and Carrie are the only ones left, and then breaks into a lame monologue about him being the "Chosen One", giving just enough time for the One Token Side Character Who Lives Among With The Main Cast(c) to kill him.

One of the funniest things I've ever seen is Will Farrell impersonating the Architect in that MTV Movie Awards spoof.
