I actually really like this summary. One, it's never melodramatic about the FATE OF THE GALAXY. Two, it's a small-scale story about spying and sneaking around and recruiting/rescuing allies, which is everything I've been asking Rebellion-era stories to be. It sounds like it's actually going to be original. This is shaping up much more promisingly than I expected it to.
A positive statement? You are mellowing now that you are a retired moderator. Good to have you back buddy! --Adm. Nick
Wonder if we'll see this book referenced in Marvel Star Wars... Han: Where you been kid? Luke: (Insert reference)* *As shown in Heir to the Jedi-Marvel Writer
Maybe the comic will cover Han and Leia's adventures during the book. Also, hopefully we see the Ord Mantell incident at some point soon
So far this looks like it will be a decent book. Seeing Luke going under cover is something I have't seen often, Skywalker being my second favorite star wars character also helps my decision in reading this book. Plus I enjoy star wars books that don't need major events to happen in the story, I enjoy smaller stories.
We should have at least four Ord Mantell stories, it doesn't feel right with less. Having several bounty hunters is not even a continuity error, Han just has bad luck any time he visits the planet.
Non-Spoiler question for those who have read it: Any indication how soon after ANH this takes place? Curious whether it is prior to the events of the new Marvel Star Wars: Book 1 - Skywalker Strikes. Any time indicators at all?
Basically nothing. No dates or mentions of other battles or ongoing missions, it very much takes place in a bottle.
I like how on the one hand, new EU promoters are saying, "It's not like the change in continuity makes you forget the old stories!" And then the second someone comments on new EU doing something the old EU has done a million times before: "It hasn't been done in the new canon yet!" So we're supposed to remember the old stories, except where we're supposed to forget them.
I understand Doc Brown's babble better than all that. My point is that we do not have an in-canon explanation for what happened, specifically on Ord Mantell with a bounty hunter
