This movie is outstanding :), I have a VHS brand new copy but I have yet to buy the DVD. Does anybody know what the special features for it are like?

It's got dueling galoore, a good storyline, and and all the characters are likeable. I like the 3 guys in the gang- Vezzeni, Inigo, and Fezic. Andre did a great job for his role.

No idea about the DVD, but the fact that I haven't seen the film in about 8 years but can still remember so many lines shows just how memorable it was :)

    "You're that smart?"
"Let me put it this way: have you ever heard of Plato, Aristotle, Socrates?"
    "Yes."
    "Morons!"

What pisses me, is that the Princess Bride is pure classic, but it is not officially known as one. I mean, when you look in the almanac, and it has the 100 best movies of all time, PB isn't there. What's up with that? It should be right up there with the Wizard of Oz and Star Wars.

I have found the book, William Goldman's "Good Parts" version. I read it. I [face_love] it!

In it he mentioned a sequel, Buttercup's Baby, and included the first chapter. Something was said about Stephen King doing the abridgement of BB. Anyone know more about this?

Well that's interesting - I apparantly am like Miracle Max.

"True love is the greatest thing in the world...except for a nice MLT - Mutton, Lettuce, and Tomato, where the mutton is nice and lean, and the tomato's ripe. They're so perky. I love that!"

Okay, I'm a bit confused right now...

I went and bought the TPB Special Edition DVD night before last { [face_love]!) and was watching the documentary... and they credit William Goldman with writing it. Mentioned his two girls, one wanting a book about princesses, the other wanting a book about brides- thus the Princess Bride.

What I'd like to know is who is S. Morgenstern and is/was there a Florin in real life? Did Goldman write TPB or just abridge it and steal all of the credit?

Is anyone else as confused as I about it?

Okay, I'm not confused anymore. William Goldman wrote the book under the name S. Morgenstern... and the whole Buttercup's Baby thing must therefore have been a joke like Ornen said...

Ahh, I'm Miracle Max! "Have fun Storming the castle!"

Wait now I'm confused, so the guy that wrote the book, prtended to abridge the book? Was it really written in another language? Did his dad really read it to him? Was Stephen King in on the joke? There's really no sequel to the book?

Oh my gosh! I love this movie! I was in love with Westley before I'd even heard of SW. I have the regular DVD of it, the special edition isn't available in Australia and I don't have an all region DVD player. But I love having the DVD, I watch it when I feel miserable and I'm cheery in no time at all.

    [image=http://e.domaindlx.com/messicat/icons/dropani.gif]

I just made that icon, in honour of this thread and this wonderful movie! I really would love to get the book, from what I've heard it's really excellent. There are so many classic quotes in this excellent movie, I'm a quote-a-holic and many of them end up in my day to day conversations.

You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means

Life is pain, Highness. Anyone who says differently is selling something

Although people do give me odd looks when I call them "Highness" [face_laugh]

I'm listening to Storybook Love right now, I love the music as well as the movie. It is just perfect. I was very lucky and got to study Princess Bride when I was in highschool, it was so much fun. My best friend and I sat quoting the whole time.

That day, she was amazed to discover that when he was saying "As you wish", what he meant was, "I love you." And even more amazing was the day she realized she truly loved him back.

EDIT: By the way, that icon is actually 100x100 px so it looks much cooler when it's at proper size, really, it does!

They even uploaded a Westley icon. [face_love] ;)

I really need to get TPB on DVD. I have it on VHS, but I should upgrade. :)
