Maybe this topic should be about both Gods and Monsters. I came out of curiosity because of that magic word, mythology; and yet, honestly, I'm finding myself more fascinated by those references to Gods.

Jar Jar: "Mesa wonder why the Guds invented pain."
Amidala: "To motivate us, I imagine."

The Whills are probably the most "mythological" of all SW beings since we know so little about them and each fan can create their own "Whills". That's very much how real-world mythologies work, it's very reliant on participation from the audience to "fill in the blanks". It's that interaction that really makes a myth come alive in the imagination. All you have to do is look at different artist's interpretations of mythological beings to see how different they are in each person's mind, no matter how much detail is provided by the text.

I always thought that Abeloth's planet was a place of horrors. A world that's off the edge of the map, in the center of a black hole cluster, populated by vicious, hungry plant life that will eat you in a heartbeat. That place definitely comes to mind when anyone mentions monsters in Star Wars EU. The fate of the Sith in Abyss was so creepy, wandering that deathtrap of a planet, constantly watching their companions being devoured by the hungry plants, never realizing that it was all the doing of the mysterious lady who claimed to be their guide. Of course, Abeloth was the worst monster on that world, hungrier than any of the plants, and ready to devour everything.

Beyond Shadows was also a scary place, where everything is shrouded in mist and a monster is lurking in the waters, ready to pull you under the surface.

The Whills may well be the least mythological of SW beings in that there are no known myths about them, just that we know OOU that the Adventures of Luke Skywalker are told in the Journal of the Whills.

I did not name any deities just some mythological creatures and the queen of Loa who may or may not be a mythological creature, depending on your belief
