Not making any more slave Leia figures was about too many misogynists being too stupid to understand what that scene was about, and thinking they are entitled to gawk at Carrie Fisher like she’s a piece of meat.

If you are OK with Han and Leia or Anakin and Padme kissing but think Vel and Cinta kissing is unacceptable or a “sex scene”, you need to take several seats until you want to join us in the 21st century.

I just have never understood why homophobes care?

isn’t there like ten billion things you should care about before that? Seems like a sad thing to dedicate any of your time to

the only reason I have to care about it is cause they care about it and would rather gay people suffer which I can’t abide

Clearly missed your original reply but if you know Koine as well as you claim to, you'd be acutely aware there's really no more definitive refutation than what Paul states in Romans 1:26-27. One popular argument is that contextually this is in regards to temple worship rather than the literal love between a man and a man, but in the lead up to these verses, 18 speaks to the notion that mankind is subject to wrath due to their failure to acknowledge God, the inner witness via consiousness, testimony via creation etc. Because of that God has given them over to their own dishonorable cravings (πάθη ἀτιμίας).

Feel free to give it a go, but it seems to me an impossible feat to find a means around the fact that these verses state that women exchanged normal relations for those contrary to nature (παρὰ φύσιν) and that similarly men exchanged the customary relationship with women for that of other men (ἄρσενες ἐν ἄρσεσιν). Verse 27 quite evidently and clearly clarifies verse 26.

The only other argument I've found online (mostly Reddit) is such that Paul was condemning rebellion against one's personal nature (a very modern identity-based stance) rather than the nature of man and woman introduced in Genesis (so a hetero enganging in relations with their own sex), but Paul utilizes what I've been made aware are unusual words for man and woman: θῆλυς (thēlys=female) and ἄρσην (arsēn=male) rather than γύνη (gynē= woman) and ἀνήρ (anēr=man) and he is doing so to draw on the creation account of Genesis, which utilizes this exact same terminology (Genesis 1:27, also see Matthew 19:4 and Mark 10:6). These words emphasize the sexual distinctiveness of male and female suggesting that sexual relations with the same sex violate the distinctions that God intended in the creation of man and woman via the Genesis account.

And to add just a bit of context to what I initially stated above, “contrary to nature” (παρὰ φύσιν) is rooted in Stoic and Hellenistic Jewish traditions that saw homosexual relations as violations of the created order.

All that being said, I think Gilroy just showed us a master class in how to beautifully and elegantly feature a romance between two women and have it be treated as utterly normal. It was extremely well done. Yes, Cinta died, but we are watching a series about a group of individuals at war with a fascist regime with immense power, and people are going to lose their lives fighting against such evil. The fact everyone is so bothered that Cinta is gone just goes to show how much her character worked and how well her relationship with Vel was articulated on screen. I think Last of Us is doing fairly well in this dept too, not nearly as well as this show IMO, but I have been impressed with both series.

Homophobia is the fear of the LGBTQ+ community, and specifically, usually, fear of feminine qualities in men and masculine qualities in women.

Homophobes don't like watching anything like this because it forces them to question their sexuality and gender. And since most of these people were taught to fear these things, it creates great anxiety when confronted with reality.

Hence, homophobia and transphobia. If they were confident in their own identities, they wouldn't be so bothered.

lol and then there’s me the moment I learned gay people existed I asked myself am I gay. And it took me like 5 years to figure out that question.

I will say this a good friend of mine how he came out to me was by me asking who was the hottest Star Wars character and he said man or women. That literally how he came out to me as Bi. Still makes me laugh to this day

anyway it’s incredibly sad that people can’t just leave others alone.
