We see Anakin get into the Darkside as well as Darth Maul but when Luke got made on broad the Second Death Star, Vader tried to lure Leia to the Darkside and Luke almost gave in. Why did Lucas not make his Eyes yellow in the DVD verion of Return of the Jedi?

EDIT: Any Answers or Imputs would be nice!

Perhaps he will do that in 2007. Who knows?
We haven't seen ROTS yet, though, so we don't really know how this works.

My guess would be that the yellow eye syndrome is an attribute of the Sith. While Luke may have dipped into the Dark Side on DSII, he wasn't Sith, so his eyes wouldn't have turned yellow.

I, for one, certainly hope Lucas does not change ROTJ to make Luke's eyes yellow during that sequence.

Agreed, luke wasn't Sith so the whole yellow eyes thing does not apply.

But if only Sith have yellow eyes, how come Palpatine doesn't have them? Why doesn't Tyrannus have them? There has to be something else at work to give a force user yellow eyes.

Ya, but it's kind of like vampires, they're eyes only change when they get angry. And in ROTJ, Palpatine did have Yellow eyes.

The reason why Senator Palpatine doesn't have yellow eyes is probably for the same reason why Sidious looks so different from Palpy. Guess we'll have to wait until May to find out.

I think it really depends no how immersed in the dark side the individual is, or how long they've been a Sith. If nothing else, it would be impossible for Palpatine to keep up the front of a Senator if he walked around with unnatural eyes, neh? Palpatine does have them in ROTJ, which I always thought was a sign of how much the dark side had ravaged his body. It might also be a trait that only appears in some dark siders. Dooku didn't have yellow eyes, and I consider him a more powerful Sith than Maul. (And Maul wasn't human, either...I think he was Zabrakkian?)

Keep in mind we still don't know if Anakin actually has yellow eyes in the movie. It's a trailer shot, and, well...trailers aren't always movie-accurate as much as they attention-grabbing. :p

When did Dooku have yellow eyes?

When did Dooku have yellow eyes?

He didn't...at least not that we've seen yet. If the Dark Side physically ravages the Sith, it would make sense to think that the Sith are able to conceal their physical appearance. Otherwise, the Jedi would have spotted them immediately.

If the Sith do have this ability, then it would stand to reason that Dooku hid this particular occular oddity from the general public.

I knew he didn't thats why I asked. I also feel as if Dooku wasn't really evil. Just a man who used the Dark Side and has an Agenda.

You don't have to have yellow eyes to be a Sith. It was probably just done for the trailer to show that Anakin was becoming truly evil, not just enraged like he was in AOTC.

I knew (Dooku) didn't (have yellow eyes) thats why I asked.

Aahhh... a rhetorical question, then. Got it.

I also feel as if Dooku wasn't really evil. Just a man who used the Dark Side and has an Agenda.

What was his agenda? Helping his master, a Sith Lord, overthrow the Republic and create a dictatorship? Duping countless systems into a war crafted by themselves to meet those ends? Not really the most noble of causes.

WAR! IIRC, Luke's eyes did look a little different when he went beastmode on Vader. Atleast in that one shot before he looks down at his hand. There was light going into the side of his eyeball, making it brighter somehow which looked really cool. So I hope they do something to enhance the effect for the ULTIMATESUPERDELUXSPECIALEDITIONDIRECTOR'SCUT of the orginal film.

    fastidious much GL?

Anakin's eyes are not yellow in the OT. Wrong board.

This same logic for Luke having yellow eyes on the DSII could be applied to Obi-Wan having them after Qui-Gon died. Of course, that would make no sense, but apparently Luke having them would.

I'm pretty sure that it's a side effect of long-term dark side use. Its power has detrimental physical side effects, while using the light side may rejuvenate someone, perhaps. Look at Palpatine's forehead, and the two gross bumps on it, or Maul's nasty brown jagged teeth. Those things, and the yellow eyes, are probably just stuff that happens to you if you use too much dark side. Dooku hadn't been a Sith Lord all that long, I suppose, and Anakin maybe wasn't deep enough into it (his nagging doubts regarding his son, for example).

It makes sense that Luke doesn't have the 'Sith eyes' because he never fully gave in to the Dark Side. He was on the verge, but held back when he realized he was turning into Vader.

Wasn't that sort of the whole point of this scene?
