ST How did Maz get Anakin's and Luke's lightsaber?

Hi my Jedi Friends,

When Rey gets her lightsaber, Maz Kanata tells her, that the lightsaber is the one, which belonged to Anakin and after that Luke. But in Episode V, when Luke fights against Darth Vader, we see that Vader cuts Lukes arm, which falls into the gas giant Bespin along with his lightsaber!
How did Maz Kanata get that lightsaber?

well Maz brushes it off when she is asked where she got it from.....soooo its probably not important at all

 

He stole it from Kylo and the KoR after he turned to the dark side.

 

Before going into hiding, Luke entrusted Maz with it.

Mystery and mysticism are considered plot holes now.

 

Some things don't need explaining. For my sake, I'd assume that lightsabers are pretty rare and valuable. Both of those things might find their way into Maz's hands. Perhaps Luke told her to keep it safe. Shrugs.

 

It does not fall into Bespin really just down that same shaft luke fell which has some sort of shoots that seem to suck him in and finally eject him from cloud city.
The rest probably does not matter much...

 

I don't believe either the hand or saber are ever seen falling out of Cloud City. Someone found it, it's valuable, and it made its way to Maz. That's not a plot hole, its a mystery. I look forward to learning more.

 

Talking with people who read the novelization of the movie and the visual art book, it says it was found in the depths of Cloud City by a worker. In TESB, we see it fall to the gas planet Bespin surface, now if both sources had said Bespin instead, then it has more plausibility with how it was. How Maz got a hold of it, is said that it was handed from person to person until it came to Maz.

 

Yes a worker found it and obviously recognized the value and sold it. Maz seems to get around and likely found it out and about or the person it was sold to found their way to Maz's fine establishment of treachery and she obtained it that way

 

I don't really care. After 30 years, it's found its way into her hands. That's all I need to know.

 

She found it in the cave on Dagobah.

 

I'm fairly certain Luke see's something fall down to the planet after he finds himself hanging on to that antenna or weather vane or whatever. I've always assumed (and still not sure what else it could possibly be) it was Luke's hand and lightsaber.

 

Lest we forget that he was in a garbage Shute....perhaps it was....WAIT FOR IT.....GARBAGE?! lol

I know what you're referring to. I believethe discussion was had here when early spoilers alleged that the movie would open with the floating hand and saber. If I recall correctly, the consensus was that those falling pieces were from the weather vane itself. I alwaysthought so myself.

 

One theory was that Lando or his people might have been involved since he ran Bespin

Would love to see it hinted at as Lando is introduced to us in Episode 8, running a star system this time.
