When Droidekas fold up and start rolling after some hapless victim, how do they "go"? Some internal gyro? A repulsor beam?

Before or after they were fitted with anti-lock breaks and power steering?

There always has to be a slight downward slope.

They are, in fact, mildly Force sensitive and propel themselves around with telekinesis, owing to their incorporation of Dashta eels.

No no no. You're all wrong. Everyone knows they keep Geonosian hamsters inside every destroyer droid.

Naw...when the droidekas want to get going, they simply think of the story "The Little Battle Droid That Could" and then repeat to themselves, "I think I can. I think I can..."

The same invisible Defel who carries Kyle's guns around for him gives them a little push.

No, that was only the ones used in the Phantom Menace when the battleships could transmit the "I think I can" message to all the droids at once.

After Anakin destroyed the battleship, they started using the hamsters, and okay.... occasionally eels.

hmm... there's eels inside the hamsters!

actually one way to stop droidekas is to put them on a moving sidewalk or treadmill... if they have to keep rolling to keep up, they can never stop to unroll and attack.

either that, or build with lots of stairs they can't roll up.

Oh God no. Please be serious! As stated by Ashandarei, they also used force-sensitive eels. But not both at the same time!

According to Labynth of Evil, a combination of "microrepulsors and sheer momentum." Or something to that effect.
