I didn't like WC3 as much as SC . . . I prefer the story mode rather then the multiplayer, which hurts the replayability. SC multiplayer is amazing I still play often.

    Warcraft 2 > Starcraft.

War2 was far more innovative when it was released than Starcraft was. If Starcraft had come out when originally planned, it would've matched it, but since SC was delayed by a year or more, it doesn't come close.

Oops, I forgot to ask this before!

Does the GB missions have a storyline to follow, as the three Starcraft missions have their own. Reason I ask is due to the different nature of armies you control.

What stories do the Rebels, Imperials, Naboo and Wookies have? Or are they stand-alone scenarios, not all one big story like SC?

Is Naboo, for example, in the same time frame as the Empire?

Just as an aside, I liked Force Commander a lot. It *finnaly* did away with the idiotic 'let's fight a war by gathering random crystals' garbage. Sure, it works for gameplay, but it's so militarily preposterous as to be nauseating.

But that's coming from someone in Marine Corps officer training. Regular civilians probably don't notice half the crap I do...

I'm so tempted to buy Galactic Battlegrounds battlechest, but this other game I've found onthe net, Homeworld 2, looks pretty cool.

Don't have a clue what it is. Something about space fleets and a reputable storyline.

It wouldn't be easy to obtain GB here anyway. A startling number of dept stores won't order it in. And the downside with Amazon is that overseas games won't work in Aust, so they won't won't ship comp games here.

Still, I found one place that can give me GB. I just want to make sure I get a good game for the $100 I'm going to have to spend! :p

Both are terrific games but Starcraft is far superior I think. It has alot more replay value.

I managed to get a cheap copy of GB once, and I only played one mission. Even 5 minutes into the first mission I could tell that it was just like AoE, and I didn't even like that game. Too easy, too boring, too tedious.

SC actually can't really be compared to W3. Well, yeah, it can, and I like Warcraft better, but SC focuses more on large armies and W3 really needs you to micromanage everything. It's a different playing style. Either way both those are way better than GB, IMO.

    >>Does the GB missions have a storyline to follow... What stories do the Rebels, Imperials, Naboo and Wookies have? Or are they stand-alone scenarios, not all one big story like SC? Is Naboo, for example, in the same time frame as the Empire?<<

Some campaigns are connected, from what I can tell. Others are seperated due to the gaps in the timeline.

For example, the training campaign is set sometime before the Battle of Naboo on a Wookiee moon, where Qui-Gon helps Attitichuk and Chewbacca establish a settlement.

The next campaign is the Trade Federation, which details the course of the invasion. That's where I was last I played.

Preumably the Naboo mission deals with their liberation and the Battle For Naboo.

The Rebel Alliance storyline is set sometime after ANH I think, and features Leia and a Jedi Knight.

The Empire campaign is set around the same timeframe I think, and features Hoth.

In Clone Campaigns, the Republic and Confederate campaigns are apparently an intertwinned storyline dealing with a new weapon developed during the first month of the Clone Wars.

The Republic mission features that same Jedi Knight who later helps Leia during the Rebel mission, while the Confederate one revolves around a Chiss Dark Acolyte of Dooku's.

That's all the info I have offhand. I've been meaning to finish the game so I can familarize myself with the game's storyline first-hand, particularly so I can gather storyline information for my Clone Wars timeline and related projects. But haven't had the time lately, so I'm only about mid-way through the Federation's campaign.
