Yareel Poof's species, the Quermians, have two brains according to TOS. One in the head, and the other in his chest I believe. How would this work? Would they think with one brain at a time, or use both?

Since this thread is about brains, might as well put this question in here too.

Ki-Adi-Mundi's species, the Cereans, have binary brains. I know they've got huge skinny heads, but what exactly is a binary brain?

On earth dinosaurs were believed to have two brains(one was actually supposed to be more of a specialized nerve bundle). The brain in the lower half of the body was supposed to assist in control of the lower half of the body, while the main brain controlled the upper half, and the thoughts of the animal.

In the star wars universe, I can't remember if it was used similarly or not, and I don't know where to look...

Earth definitions of binary brain is a brain that is made up of two parts(human brain is actually made up of like 3 or 4 parts), or a brain that reads binary.

Again, the Star wars definition? Who knows...

Thanks Val. I was more looking for an Earth explanation than a SW one. But if someone comes across the SW ones, please post. :D

Val, I think you're right about Yarael Poof's two brains. I believe one is for thinking while the other is for motor skills etc. It would be like having our own cerebrum and cerebellum separated. That's just a basic way to look at it. I remember reading somewhere about the nature of Quermian brains. It may have been in Poof's original TOS entry before they revamped it.
