How Much Did Owen Know About Anakin/Vader?

All this talk of what PT lines will give which OT lines greater meaning, depth, etc. made me think of Uncle Owen's worry in Episode 4, when Aunt Beru says Luke has "too much of his father in him, " and Owen says, "That's what I'm afraid of." Love that part. BUT ANYWAYS...I'm just wondering how much Owen actually knows? I gather he at least knows that Anakin is not someone Luke should try to emulate, but does he know that Anakin is Vader? Does he even know OF Darth Vader?
Any thoughts?

Owen is obviously aware of Anakin's darker aspects of his character, the dialogue in ANH indicates this, and in Ep2 we see that Owen comes into contact with Anakin. Somewhere between these two (I'm guessing Ep3) will show at least something to justify Owens caution to Anakin. Ep3 will also show whether Owen knows that Anakin becomes Vader (I would suspect that he does, because of his particular caution to OB1, and as I gather the Jedi as a whole IMO).

However on the other hand Owen may only see Anakin becoming an increasing complacement and arrogant individual as a Jedi and he fears for Luke following down the same path. This would also explain his caution to Anakin and OB1.

He apparently knew enough to keep Luke from the truth about Anakin.

 

I really don't think he knew the truth that Anakin had become Vader. He assumed that he ran off(like he did in AOTC, rather arrogantly) and got himself killed during the rise of the Empire. He doesn't want Luke involved in anything like that.

 

I think the culture conflict is the heart of the problem. The cut scene from AotC between Padme and Beru would have illustrated that really well.

 

I think Owen knows a lot more tha we think he knows.

 

He knew FAR TOO MUCH!!
