How Old is Palpatine in TPM?

Palpatine is 86 by the time return of the Jedi rolls around. That would put him in his very late forties/very early fifties by TPM.

 

57 years, three months and seven days. (my opinion)

 

Is his age ever revealed? I have always thought that he (Darth Sidius) was much older but manages to look younger (Palpatine) via the dark side. How else do you explain his appearance - not just in ROTJ but in TPM and AOTC. Sidius looks to be just as old then as in ROTJ (e.g. when he is talking to Maul/Dooku). It is only as Palpatine that he appears younger.

 

Darth Sidious doesn't look anything at all like he did in Return of the Jedi. If he is 86 in Return of the Jedi, which many people believe he is, then minus the 20 year gap between the two trilogies would put him at 66 at the end of Episode III. If Episode II and Episode III are two years apart then he'll be 64 in Episode II. And ten years prior during The Phantom Menace would put him at 54 years old.

 

He does look similar to ROTJ when he is Sidius. You just never see his face. Only his hands and skin.

 

The hidious wrinkles can not be seen around his mouth in TPM and AOTC because he's much younger and the dark side usage doesn't appear evident until the OT.

 

He's about 50 in TPM.

 

Well in Ep II he looks 80 or 90, but thats just me!

That doesn't explain his age to me. However I am sure that something must be said on his age on starwars.com. If we really want to know then we should check his bio there. If it isn't stated there than his age isn't known. And then we can all speculate some more.

 

Well, he's 86 in ROTJ, so if you do the math, he's 50 in TPM.

What I think is interesting, is that Ian MacDiarmid was 35 when ROTJ was filmed. (Born April 17, 1947)

In TPM he was actually playing much closer to his actual age.
