Full Series How Should Darth Maul Return?

While we're waiting for more TCW episodes, let's discuss the "shocking" end to the Nightsisters trilogy and the reveal that "Maul" "is" "alive" somewhere in the Outer Rim.

Which of the above options would you prefer?

I won't lie...I like the robo-legs idea. Loved it since I saw it in Visionaries.

Yeah, I dig the robo legs thing from Visionaries as well. That fits well within the SW universe imo.

I'm alright with the Talzin lying option, if that means Maul didn't survive at all, and she was just showing images of the past or something like that.

Robo legs = lame. The guy is dead. Cut in half through his vital organs.

 

Ackbar needs to appear and warn Savage. It's the TRAAAAAAAAP!

 

If we had gotten the answer to this in the episode right after the "Nightsisters" trilogy I would have been fine with it being a lie or a holocron or something similar, but since we probably won?t get the answer until s4 I think it would be a huge cheat if he wasn?t alive. You don?t build expectations for the return of Darth Maul for 6 months plus and don?t deliver, it would make Dave and his team look real bad in my eyes.

I voted for Robo legs, that makes the most sense to me.

 

In my view the huge cheat is to somehow bring back to life a character that was so definetly killed over a decade ago. THAT would make Dave and his team look real bad in my eyes.

We clearly have very different views of what makes sense. For me a character that is cut in half and thrown down a melting pit surviving this ordeal to return a decade later with cyborg legs is NOT the definition of "makes most sense".

 

Well, I'd rather not see him return, for all the reasons already mentioned above. Not even as a brain in a jar. But if it be so, well... then I'll try to make the best of it and enjoy the series nevertheless.

The worst option is that episode guide just has little note "Maul was somehow fully restored"



Talzin lies don't believe that witch- if she wouldn't have her own agenda she wouldn't be so damn helpful to everyone.... and i agree with Gry- Maul is dead damn it-

why cannot they use Han Solo or something - at least he is not cut in half at the time - Dave already laughed to entire idea so either he is big j@rk or this whole thing is cunning hoax- there is no "Maul arrives to The Clone Wars preview" so i don't think he arrives at all- it just simply sucks if he is alive and well- robolegs or not - Jango and robohead is probably next step after Maul ...

 

I couldn't believe another thread was started about this, and I'm in even more disbelief that it was a mod who started it.

Isn't one attack-the-writers-for-bringing-back-Maul-even-though-they-might-not thread enough? I truly hope that's not where this is headed, but I see the early warning signs. It's not like anyone is going to say anything in this thread that hasn't been recycled over and over again in the other thread, and I for one don't feel like going through all that again. Unless there's been some news about this recently, I really have to question what the purpose of this thread is.

I guess this whole bringing Maul back thing is because they want to please all the fans who felt he was killed off prematurely in TPM. The thing is - they did a decent enough job with Savaage in my view. Adding Maul back into the equation seems like an extra helping of desert.

But as its been mentioned, if they are to go this route then just do it, go for the robo-legs and hopefully we'll enjoy it.

 

I don?t think you really understood my point at all Gry, It does not make sense to me that Darth Maul is alive, at all. My impression after TPM was that he was as dead as one can be.

My point was that Dave Filioni and his team have shown us that Maul is alive somewhere out there (in some form), a revelation that has naturally lead to a lot of speculation and a lot of expectation for what this can lead to, it would be really low of Dave and his team to not give us Maul after having been anticipating it for 6 months plus (somewhere in s4). You don?t build anticipation for something that turns out to be a non-event.

^^ Totally agree. They are in a spot now where they have to give us something.

 

Well nothing have said Maul would be his birth name- maybe he is Devil Opress but names are always given- no one borns with name printed on one's head.... they are always given by parents or other caretakers so apparently giving menacing names is dathomiri tradition.... no odd at all.... corny maybe but so is their way to play with "the water of life" and do magic-stuff so it's just in line with their other traditions....

 

I voted a resounding "No". I love that robo-legs is getting some votes, just for the lolz.

The point of this thread is it's a poll, an easy way to quantify what people want. There's not much attacking of any kind going on, only statements of desire.

 

I voted "no just no" mainly because I simply dislike the concept of them bringing characters who have died back to life, especially characters who have died in the films, unless of course the TCW crew decides to portray Maul as a spirit or a vision or something similar to that.

However I do like the whole "Mother Talzin is sending Savage into a trap" idea too. I mean she is a chess master and it would be cool if it turns out that she was manipulating Savage and whatnot.

 

Talzin and Sidious need connection- maybe they have even epic duel with Force powers like Palpy has with Yoda in ROTS maybe Maul is cloned by Sidious that's also reasonable option- but clone has to be mad or something so they cannot start to clone jedi and sith just like that... or then Sidious really knows how to stop people from dying and Maul is barely kept alive by Sidious.... then Palpy must lie about "discovering the secret" but well he tends to lie a lot .....

 

A clear majority disliked the idea in the other thread, so obviously the poll is going to reflect that. Unless there's new information we're supposed to be taking into consideration, I still don't see the point. Especially since we're taking a poll on something that still might not happen. If you read my post a little more carefully and give it some more thought that will probably take care of the rest of your misunderstanding.

 

Hold your horses Tarkus, it's just a poll, we get a lot of these. I doubt this topic will re-enact the tiresome trench war we had in some other threads.

I for one am curious to see what the results are. So often have I thought 'the majority thinks this' and then it turned out it wasn't so.

Remember the 'Witches of the Mist' ranking? You were convinced the majority hated it, but it turned out to be just a small minority of very vocal people in the episode discussion thread.

no with the caveat that IF the show must bring him back, it be as a clone. i could accept that.

 

But they already did clone him! Turned out a little yellow, but other than that he's just the same!
