Hi. I was wondering if any of you know how I can somehow get a job as a writer for Star Wars books, like the EU ones. I was hoping I could get info, and become a writer like Timothy Zahn or Kevin J. Anderson, etc etc. Any help would be lots of help. Thanks!

First, you need to become a published writer. Then if LFL, likes you enough, they may make you an offer.

That's exactly it. They don't accept unsolicited manuscripts. If you look at the books, they've all been written by established, respected authors. And then they come to you if they like your work.

If you want to know more, there's a thread in Fan Fiction Resource about this, somewhere. You might have to look a bit.

If you look at the inside cover of most SW novels, you'll see that most SW authors have at least 6 or 7 other books under their belt and are often award winning writers.

Karen Traviss is the only Novice Novelist. She only has two other novels under her belt both published in 2004, along with Republic Commando. but to her credit, she has decades of Journalistic experience.

I seem to remember reading that she's won some awards for her reporting. In anycase she has lots of experience as a writer.

Thanks for all the help guys. I better get working on publishing books then. My ultimate goal is to write EU books for SW. I am currently reading the Jedi Academy Trilogy by Kevin J. Anderson

Most will tell you to find something better than KJA. ;)

You could also become an afficionado, as a few here on the boards have, and help a writer. :p JediTrilobite helped with and was thanked in the book, "The Cestus Deception".

Well they do actually dome on the baords, I;ve talked to Walter John Williams and asked him a few questions.

That's my goal, to be an EU writer but you need to write your own fantasy or SF first, then LFL will give you a look-in

Provide information of some sort to them, normally.

And, for the record, it may be a BIT easier to become a comics/guides author--Nathan P. Butler and Dan Wallace are examples of that. Still, that's very difficult, and the "canon" jokes apply better to the acknowledged than to the writers, seeing as nobody made a "Nathan is now canon" thread like has happened for the acknowledged.
